The stay-put order for the South Tower is one of the biggest failings of the day. I don’t blame anyone for it; it was unprecedented chaos, and hindsight is 20/20.
But when it comes to safety, always trust your gut when it says get out.

The reality is that he just started that job, didn’t like it, and didn’t care. He was 21 at the time.
I’ll never understand why anyone would have stayed. I would have been out of there in a heartbeat. Thank God he made the decision he did.
I didn’t even know he worked in the towers to be honest and he lived with us… LOL
Him and his now wife lived in the 3rd floor apartment. My in-laws were living in the second floor apartment, and my wife and I (we had just gotten married in June of that year), were living in the first floor apartment. An old man (family friend) was in the basement apartment.
Coolest house in the world and it was huge. Too bad it was in Ozone Park. We decided to sell when I was trying to rock my sick daughter back to sleep in the middle of the night in 2005 when she was 1, looked out the window and saw someone selling drugs on the hood of my now SIL’s car.
That was that. My MIL’s father had that house built in 1926 for $17K, the year my recently deceased FIL was born! It was really hard for them to sell that house but we had to.
It looks more like they are soliciting themselves. I googled it and my antivirus flagged their website as malicious. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for their services…
Just to make the SellersAskSellers and general ecommerce community aware, the “foreign company” in the title (China Manufacturing Group Co., Ltd, headquartered in Thailand) has made repeated attempts over several months–up to and including today–to infiltrate SellersAskSellers and promote their services, in violation of our Community Expectations, TOS, and multiple account bans.
We will continue to remove prohibited content like spam and commercial solicitations and to prevent bad actors from accessing our SellersAskSellers forum.
We will continue to be transparent about the behavior of those who do not respect platform policies and/or US law, as a service to the ecommerce community.
If this is how a company behaves in this situation, how might they behave when they have access to your business?
THANK YOU to the SellersAskSellers community members who flagged questionable content. You helped your modmin team manage the situation quickly and prevent additional vandalism.
Interestingly, just googled the company again and found this, on reddit letter from China Manufacturing Group Company Limited:
A post was split to a new topic: Should we make more of SellersAskSellers private?
Stumbled upon this gem today. Yes, it’s a blog post by a service provider, but posting this in no way suggests endorsement of their services.
So I remember this thread from way back when, some time after SAS was born…
One summer, I made an “Under Water Airplane” something I made as a kid, don’t remember where the idea came from, but used it with my best friend on Sunday’s at his family’s camp on a lake.
I made one for family in Vermont, everyone had a great weekend, and I left it there when we departed. You could cruse under and on top of the water pulled by a small boat with a outboard engine.
The “Kids” decided they wanted to patent it. I advised against it, as I did develop it many years earlier, and could not remember where the idea came from.
Still they did, they contacted “Invention Companies” that would patent your product. They went through three or more requests for more money, before they abandoned the idea.
Pure Scam IMO.
Hello
I am new to the platform having searched the net to see what I could find out.
I have also just received the exact same letter from this company and as a naive inventor went from ‘Excited’ to ‘Scam’ in minutes.
Did you ever get to the bottom of this and whether these guys are genuine or just trawling patents to rip off ?
Thanks in advance
Hello and welcome to SellersAskSellers, @SBird1 ! Hopefully, you can see that the general tone is to avoid entering into business with an organization who approaches you in this manner, but I will tag @HumbleWarrior and @Mona3520 in case they have any additional updates or insight to offer.
I still side with scam. Maybe you’ll get some $, but remember, they are in the game to make $$$
First welcome to the SAS!
As it relates to my Vermont family, they made the choice after three requests for more money. The choice was made since they felt it was a scam.
They did initiate the first contact, why and how I do not know. I did tell them the requests for more money would keep on coming. Before they made the first contact. I did not ask for details, as I did not want to rub it in.
They learned a lesson, I have been around the sun enough times to learn may myself.
