AHT Miscalculation Causes Late Delivery Risk & OTDR Issues

Thanks …
Wonder if because of the on going late shipments has caused their Promise Gap to go above 2 days and Amazon is starting to force AHT?

Interestingly, no response from a mod either.

Beginning to think Amazon is playing with AHT settings and it is effecting handle time across the board (even manual settings).

When Amazon was first putting “Late Delivery Risk” badge into play, we had a few weeks of issues with getting the right options for shipping services (we would loose USPS Ground Advantage less than 1lb on orders). Then we saw weird estimated delivery times when Amazon was playing with the Promise Extensions setting. The last push was to have sellers set their max orders setting that could be done in one day. Amazon was to make it automatic like AHT if you had AHT turned on. To test that on an item, the handle time would have to be 0 days. For those of us with custom or handmade items, this really wouldn’t work as it would need to be how many items can we get out in a 2 day handle time. And even that varies as the how many depends on the customization needed on the items being made for that day.

All of this points to Amazon is playing with the handle time code.

we got forced into it. A order with 20 items ended up being 1 day late. That put our OTDR at 45% (we didn’t realize the ODTR went by item not by order and of course it’s our fault that it went to the wrong distribution center across the country). To get our account out of danger of deactivation we had to enable AHT. We already enabled SAS.

It’s basically been working for us until recently where we have 1 day and now same day shipping on some items. As long as the order only has 1 item we will roll the dice and take our chances.

If you enabled it, then you actually didn’t have it “forced” onto you. The test of this would be if you can turn off AHT currently. If you can, then Amazon didn’t force you into it as you still have the option to turn off and on with AHT. If you have the option to currently turn off AHT, then you saved yourself a lot of pain when you made the decision to turn it on back then.

We are not ready to turn off AHT yet as you have said …

Since the item that we had that went to 1 day handle time are now back to 2 day handle time, we think Amazon has been tinkering with the program. We now have two other items at 1 day handle time and one item that went to 0 day handle time. As long as our metrics are not threatening anything, we are going to ride it out and see what happens. During this time, we will ship everything on a strict 2 day handle time (even if it means getting that “Late Delivery Risk” badge on a few orders).

Maybe Amazon got the message about orders that come in around midnight PDT and the calculation of handle time. Check this out …

In the past, an order on Tue at 11:58pm PDT would have the last ship by date of Thur for a two day handle time even though the order would have been Wed 1:58am CDT in our time zone. This Tue 11:58pm PDT is showing a Friday last ship by date.

For those of you who had issues with 1 day handle time becoming same day last ship by dates, this may solve your issue if Amazon is now making the calculations based on our time zones.

Can anyone else who is FBM confirm that they have seen a similiar last ship by date calculation?

would be nice, but I don’t expect it.

After following a rigid “only ship on the last ship by date” and only on a 2 day handle time schedule, we can say that our AHT finally has all of the items back to 2 day handle time. We only took 1 hit on OTDR with only 1 of the “Late Delivery Risk” as all of the rest of them still got delivered on time. None of the “Late Delivery Risk” orders (caused by shipping one day late) ever hit our “Late Ship Rate”.

Our original post was on June 26 and today is August 26 so it took two months to re-train the AHT bot to do and recognize our shipping pattern.
