Anyone sells on Target Plus marketplace? Is it worth it?

Thank you for all answers. It looks like I should keep selling only on Amazon and Walmart

No, they just don’t respond to your application. A long time ago the company that I worked for used to sell to Target and I still know some of those folks. I asked them about it and they explained what they are trying to do.

I have a DUNS number but am not at all who Target Plus wants (and the feeling is mutual).

Maybe Target isn’t the right focus for you at this time, but don’t count it out forever. Sales channels constantly evolve (that’s my diplomatic take), and @kevbot is seeing success once getting in.

I wonder if anyone has ever had the gonads to respond to an invitation from a major marketplace by saying “I’m sorry, but your marketplace does not qualify to carry our products”?

Similar but not quite exact.

I had a sales rep for Walmart call me and wanted me to sign up. I told him he was wasting his time because I had tried but they wouldn’t approve me because I am a Sole Member LLC using my SS# (yeah, I know it’s dumb) and he said that can’t be right.

Of course it can’t be right – I’ve only been turned down twice so far. He said he would check and get back to me. I said good luck because it isn’t happening in my lifetime.

Well, I’m still alive and still waiting for that call…

They’re most likely replacing an existing brand. So whatever that brand’s sales were will be the replacement brand’s new sales. Unlike Amazon, retail stores only have a fixed amount of shelf space so when they bring in a new brand chances are another brand is getting the boot. Discount stores like dollar general typically carry few duplicate items from different brands. They want to funnel the volume into 1 brand so they get the best possible purchasing price by having tons of volume.
