You know, I used to believe that was true.
Then I got married. 
We did arbitration against Amazon in 2021 and we paid around $2000 to AAA.
On the side, we hired a paralegal just to write some reports for us, which were about $500 more or less.
I have to say that our experience with AAA has been excellent so far. We are sellers from Spain and we got assessment from AAA representatives during all the process, they answered all our questions quickly… they also allowed us to do the “trial” online.
