Auto Shipping Settings

So this is what pops up when you select opt-out..
Gotta think of something creative to put under other :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I’m sure @Roxy can help you with that.

They have been pushing to get everyone on auto for some time now; I’m still convinced at some point, they’re going to opt other categories into mandatory free return shipping.

I do have Auto ON for now. So far the shipping time looks right.
It will close my delivery promise gap and maybe they’ll stop sending me emails berating me for under promising and over delivering.

I’m surprised they included - I don’t trust Amazon… as an option.

If I thought the message would get to the people who need to see it, I’d write - Because you CAN NOT PREDICT accurate USPS delivery times to save your stupid lives!

They have been pushing to get everyone on auto for some time now

It’s the dumbest thing, too. The automation does not do anything better than you could do yourself. At best, it does (roughly) the same as what you could do - unless you have no idea what you’re doing.

The only people who should use the automation are those who don’t understand how to set their shipping settings themselves (newbies), or simply don’t want to be bothered to learn how.

There is never a circumstance where the automation can do anything BETTER than you can do, if you know what you’re doing. There are, however, plenty of circumstances, where it can do things worse. Most of them involve USPS.

I might have a different perspective if I shipped mainly by UPS, although I doubt it. Given what I’ve seen of Amazon’s technological capabilities, I don’t trust for one single minute that their shipping ‘adjustments’ based on carrier’s schedules, would be accurate.

I do have Auto ON for now.

Oh, you poor sucker… LOL…

So far the shipping time looks right.

They’re probably at least close. How do you mainly ship?

It will close my delivery promise gap

Surprise! You don’t have a ‘delivery promise gap’. None of us do. It’s just another illusion created by Amazon to get you to buy into their shipping automation.

Nobody has the gap that Amazon claims, because the way they calculate it is suspect and ridiculous. Those emails are nothing but intimidation tactics to push you into using their tools. Just ignore what those numbers say, they’re basically meaningless.

Exactly!!

I would like to see the email and read what the seller was referring to in the Forced shipping template “upgrade” to SSA coming 4/25/23 AMAZONl forum post.

“You can choose to opt-out but will not be protected from carrier performance issues”
What does that exactly mean? Not that it would really make a difference to me whether I choose to opt-out or not.

but will not be protected from carrier performance issues”
What does that exactly mean?

It means that you won’t get in trouble for late deliveries. When Amazon first started promoting the SSA, they made what (to me) sounded like an empty and pointless promise, something about if you use SSA and the package is late, you won’t get a late delivery metric ding.

I don’t think they went so far as to say they’d cover A to Z claims for late deliveries, but I didn’t pay much attention.

Because my way of doing things is to promise a delivery date that ensures items will arrive on time.

Instead of the Amazon way, which is to promise a fast delivery, let the buyer be disappointed when it doesn’t happen, and then not hold the seller accountable, sending the message that who gives a (bleep) if the buyer gets their stuff on time as long as you don’t get in trouble for it?

I have no problem being accountable for delivery promises I make since I don’t lie to buyers. So it means nothing to me when Amazon says - we won’t hold you accountable. Fine, because I don’t do anything I need to not be held accountable for.

I’ll be OK. My items are made to order and “usually” I get the item out before the first ship by date anyway. I under promise for my sanity.

Mainly UPS. If my stuff were small and shipped USPS I’d be concerned about “peak” times. So far, knock on the wooden stove top cover, UPS has been reliable for me. Obviously results vary as I’ve heard horror stories from others.

I definitely don’t have a thigh gap. Yes, I am well aware of the stupidity of the promise gap. I have raged about it in the Handmade area of the forum on the OFSE.

The issue is, (and correct me if I’m wrong) is that Auto shipping does not separate your own State or allow you to adjust the Transit times.

They have most US regions listed as 3-5 Days (Transit Time), which is crazy if you ship same day.

But on Manual Template, your State is listed separately; I had to increase the Transit Time to 5-8 days before 2 pm, and after 2 pm could be 3-5, or my only option for 15 oz or less would be Priority, especially for same State Orders.

I got the email. Thought I successfully opted out of it.

I want to be relaxed on my end – one person show here and me, myself, and I need our sanity.

I’m gonna keep an eye on it.

For “other” Stop f*king with the settings I need to keep so that YOU don’t fire me because I can’t handle the job any more.

Their one check box says..

:black_square_button: I prefer to offer longer delivery promises as a buffer even if this results in less sales

Let’s use fear to manipulate sellers, typically Amazon tactics..

I check that box!!!

Why, I want to “Delight” the customer!

They don’t get it, they just don’t get it. I have never had a customer ■■■■■ at me for getting them an item early. I sure have gotten an earful when the carrier arrived late.

We left Canada, since Canada Post could not deliver one damn package on time in the COVID-19 event.

Box, translation, rhymes with Witch. Love the boxes. :zipper_mouth_face:

Are you? Really?

If Amazon already knows the answer Sellers would pick if given the option…
And if Amazon has a corporate culture of it is never Amazon’s fault…

This is why polls are so not very valuable, unless you need a certain result…

I found the email; it was blocked as spam…

It was sent this morning at 3 am…

Here is what it says if anyone is interested.

So in the email, it says…

“Additionally, with SSA enabled, you are protected from carrier performance issues.”

Terms of protection are listed under Amazon Shipping Settings Automation Policy:

Additionally, with Shipping Settings Automation enabled your account health is protected from negative feedbacks due to late deliveries, and we will suppress negative feedback related to late deliveries on your Shipping Settings Automation orders, as long as:

  • You shipped the orders on-time
  • You provided valid tracking information
  • You used the same (or faster) shipping service than what was used by Shipping Settings Automation used to calculate delivery promise, which can be seen on the Order Detail page and the Order API.

Under the policy, it does say negative feedback related to late deliveries is suppressed, which sounds different from a strikethrough.

It may be different or could be a step up and work better than Amz Buy Shipping services for negative feedback related to shipping and is automatically suppressed. I assume that if it contains any additional comments though, the seller would still need to request a review and in all likelihood, it will not be removed.

I don’t trust Amazon to cover my a$$…time will tell and I’d prefer to let others be the guinea pig.

I’ve been sitting on the sidelines for many months now (or is it years?) waiting for someone who tried it to tell me SSA is great.

Amazon doesn’t appear to specifically mention if your shipping metrics are protected from late deliveries (unless I missed that).

I put that I don’t trust Amazon to do anything in my best interests. And that they always screw something up.

I would say it is satisfactory.
Not great. Not bad. Above mediocre.

It works well for us, and we have been using it for quite some time.
