Doctor Who

I did like Tennant.

I watched it when he was the doctor

He’s back as #14, after being 10, 10.5 (full regeneration but same), and Meta-Crisis (from siphoned regen 10 energy + Donna dna).

Plus Donna. :star_struck::star_struck::star_struck:

Sadly, I don’t have Max, so won’t get to watch any of the new stuff.

But all of the old Who is now streaming on Tubi, so we’re enjoying watching some of those (wife has never seen the Pertwee era).

Disney + will have the 60th next week, they will now be the us distributor of Dr who.

That’s good to know! We just signed up for the Black Friday deal for Disney. Great timing.

Well, That was a hell of a way to start! (Disney+ AND BBC First Episode landed about an hour ago at 6.30pm London Time)

RIGHT NOW AT PAPY HOUSE

I just started watching it…meep meep LMAO

It’s so hard to suspend belief with this show…LOL

I’ll get through it.

Hail to the Meep!

I can’t believe I’m watching this!

:joy:

LOVED IT! The Beep of the Meep

No Disney+ here.
I stopped watching after the Rosa Parks episode, the show just got so bad I couldn’t finish episodes.

Even in our faithful Who household, no one has managed to get through all of the 13th Doctor’s episodes, and to my knowledge, no one is planning to. Lots of love for Jodi Whitaker, but that Doctor and those storylines/episodes were not compelling enough to maintain our attention.

For catching up the youngest members in prep for 14 and 15, we officially stopped at Capaldi’s last episode and then rewatched some Household Fan Favorites for Doctors 9, 10, and 11.

Tonight’s was definitely worth it! :alien::alien_monster::hourglass_not_done:

I’ll wait till you rewatch it, and you can live text the dialogue to me

 Planned for tomorrow, after my visiting family leaves, since I already made them watch it once

The tie in to binary towards the end

My head is exploding

:joy:

Ok it was cute. So Rose is part Time Lord now?

[mod edit: spoiler tag]

I think that she was part TL from her mom, but not any more because she and Donna “released” that energy…which I also think might become important in the next two episodes.

Also the name was just, wow.

I liked Jodie Whitaker as the Doctor but the storylines she was given were just awful. And her traveling companions didn’t seem to click with her or the stories either.

On a better note, did anyone watch the Broadchurch series starring David Tennant on PBS? Whitaker also appeared in the series and the two of them had scenes together. It was very surreal watching those two act in a drama together. This isn’t the best photo but it’s all that I could find.

Another fun fact: Did anyone see the Oscar-winning film Belfast? Remember the little blond girl in the front row? She was played by David Tennant’s daughter, Olive. Another generation of actors in the family.

Ya the writers did not help such a gifted actress one bit. Like many other Sci Fi shows recently, the writers are getting lazy and simply cutting and pasting social issues into scripts instead of coming up with some actual “Fi” in Sci Fi. I watch TV shows to disconnect from reality, not watch regurgitated TV versions Schindlers List, The Green Book and other reminders of how reality has and will continue to suck.
They need to take a page from TNG writing that blurred the lines better IMO, keeping it from being depressing. At least Rick and Morty make it funny when going to a fascist dystopian reality.

I was hoping they would cast Idris Elba for Dr Who, but no. He should be the next Bond then.

This. ALL DAY this.
