I’m considering white label selling toys on Amazon and Walmart marketplaces. Both require CPC (my supplier could get the lab tests done for extra costs) which wouldn’t be a problem. I’ve heard that CPC itself doesn’t have the expiration date. However for US customs, it has to be within 3 years. For online e-commerce marketplaces, it has to be within a year. My question is that do I need to run new tests to update CPC every year to satisfy Amazon and Walmart? Please share your thoughts and experiences. Thanks.
We haven’t had to do it every year. We have had Amazon request different items compliance at different times which all had the same test date (which was over 3 years). If the listing is set up correctly for compliance, then it doesn’t seem to be a problem and the bots
.
Thanks for your reply. I think your message got cut off. It stopped at “and the bots”. Were you trying to say “and the bots don’t give us troubles” or something like that?
… that’s what happens when we are on mobile responding during a wife’s doctor visit when the doctor walks in … shut it down to give the attention to the doctor.
If the listing is set up correctly for compliance, then it doesn’t seem to be a problem and the bots don’t bother you.
Thanks for confirming. Is this true for both Amazon and Walmart? Lately I prefer Walmart platform over Amazon. Even though the volume is lower, the profit margin per unit is higher.
Amazon requires you submit CPC verification every year. Even if the inventory is old. We had our listing removed because of this. Amazon wanted us to get new testing, even though the inventory was a year old. We didn’t want to go through the trouble of testing old inventory (which had previously passed testing but was over 12 months old) so we removed the old inventory, sold it on other platforms, and then reactivated the listing when we had a new batch of inventory with updated testing.
I normally order 1-2 years worth of inventory at a time and store at my own warehouse but I now know I need to be super conservative with inventory planning for this kids item to prevent this for happening again.
