In our lean self employment years I seriously considered working at the local schools as an “aide” (aka walk around with 1 or 2 kids who need help being redirected back to their work, or who may need to step out of the classroom for a little walk in the middle of a lesson). Way below my skill/education level – but it would give us health insurance for a reasonable amount. We’ve had to buy our insurance on the open marked before the ACA was even a thought. First year was $600/month for a family. Ahhh…wouldn’t that be great now. We got this through a professional org we belonged to. Those plans don’t exist any more. ACA didn’t help us.
