[FTC] FTC Suit Against E-Commerce Business Opportunity Scam Leads to Permanent Bans for Operators

I thought we were supposed to avoid using Proper nouns when discussing contentious issues that were for all intents and purposes a tier or two removed from the OP? Am I being unnecessarily cautious?

Okay. I am not claiming that everyone operating any kind of seller consultant firm or selling courses is a scammer. I do think the proportion of scams to legit is high enough to warrant an automatic knee-jerk reaction of deep suspicion, but I think we agree on that.

What I am saying is that for the people running scams with no intent to deliver what’s promised, be that a successful FBA account off an initial “investment”, a how-to class on building a successful Amazon business without meaningful content, or any of the other grifts we have seen, the con men are at fault top to bottom, even if their marks were credulous or naive.

Maybe we are agreeing and just talking past each other.

So its not an inside joke. Got it. You were just informing everyone that you had the capability to whatever you were asked not do do.

I was hoping there was a cool inside joke.

I think we’re agreeing for the most part - but to determine: intent, cause and effect would require litigating each and every operation/operator - the scrutiny and expertise to do so is a very high bar. But I think we each made our points enough

Or I was just fishing for compliments on a Thursday. Yah, well, the world is full folk being celebrated for stating the obvious - sometimes the bandwagon seems comfy. I dunno

I think we’re having the same thematic difference that we had hear now that I think about it :joy:

And it could all be that I’m speaking from a very particular lens which most recently involved tiny hair follicular level minutae - and how it all got dismissed with a waive - insert each and every bromide remark about “trauma” and “past lives” :joy:

I strongly agree. And hope that we continue to see businesses that scam Sellers held accountable while we simultaneously keep trying to educate those new to e-comm about red flags: THERE’S NO EASY BUTTON.

These orders affect the following Defendants:

they promised that consumers would generate sales of “$100K+ per month” and that their stores could become “million-dollar” operations. These promises rarely, if ever, materialized. Most consumers lost tens of thousands of dollars investing with defendants, and many incurred crushing debts due to the alleged scam.
