It's almost the end of August and Amazon and Veequ are still using First class and parcel post.

I still had one order where ground advantage was not an option, only 1st class.

This is what I’ve been seeing since GA was added. Check your deliver-by dates.

Also, Ground Advantage uses a different end-of-day time than first-class. First-class labels quote the correct estimated delivery until 5 pm local time (Oregon). At 5:01 pm, delivery estimates are 1 day longer, the system treats them ‘as if’ I’m shipping tomorrow instead.

GA makes this change at some point between 3:00 and 4:30, I haven’t pinned it down yet. But at 3:15 today, both FC and GA were operating as if I were shipping today. At 4:37 pm, FC still thought it was today, while GA already thought it was tomorrow.

If that doesn’t make sense… the screen print above has Saturday selected as the shipping date. If it had been Friday, each estimated delivery would have been a day earlier - Oct 3 and 5, instead of 4 and 6.

At noon on Friday, the dates would be Oct 3 and 5, because both FC and GA were treating the shipping day as Friday.

At 4:35 pm, FC still gives the Oct 3 date (it’s before 5 pm, so FC still thinks it’s Friday) but GA shows Oct 6 (GA now thinks it’s Saturday because it’s past whatever earlier cut-off time GA uses). After 5 pm, both services estimate delivery ‘as if’ shipping will occur on Saturday, and the dates become 4 and 6, as shown above.

Life is about to get VERY interesting if the PO shuts down with some/a little/most of the Government.

I did a bit of shipping today since a couple of the orders were $100+ which is unusual for me.

My Endicia/Dazzle system normally shows 3-5 days except for PR , GU and a few other distant locations.

Today it showed 2 - 9 days for VA! I guess Pony Express is coming back…

According to their website, they won’t be affected.

Whoops, looks like it might not matter anyway. Hot off the presses…

So the clown show has another six weeks to screw around with how much of our money they want to spend on useless projects.

I miss Everett Dirksen. " **A billion here, a billion there, pretty soon, you’re talking real money."

He never said exactly that BUT one source says "(t)hey had one gentleman report to them he had asked Dirksen about it on an airplane trip and received the reply: “Oh, I never said that. A newspaper fella misquoted me once, and I thought it sounded so good that I never bothered to deny it.”
