I just refunded a customer whose package shows no movement in over a month. It appears to be lost in transit. I would like to file a claim with USPS, but they need the mailing address of the recipient. The Amazon order page no longer shows the customer address, only first name and city/state/zip. The shipping label was purchased through Amazon and I see no way to see the shipping label. Is there any way to find this info somewhere on Amazon?
My understanding is that if you buy your shipping through Amazon, that USPS (or other carrier) sees Amazon as the customer, and expects claims to come from them. I have no experience with this, so don’t know if it’s 100% accurate or if there are ways around it.
But I have to wonder, if you bought through Amazon, why not have the customer file A-Z claiming INR so that Amazon funds it? (assuming that you not only bought through Amazon, but also shipped on time with a scan showing that).
Yes, I should have done this. It has been so long since I’ve had this issue that I didn’t think that through properly. Thanks!
I’m sorry. This is why I save a copy of every label I buy.
Two ways to maybe get the address …
1st … go to the order and scroll down to find the Reprint Label (shipping label) as it will have the address and all the info you need for a USPS claim. (Note: we just checked an order that was a month old and the Reprint Label still worked).
2nd … if 1st way doesn’t work, look through your downloads from the date that the label would have been printed. If you have your labels opening into something like Adobe Reader, there will be a PDF of your label in your downloads as long as you have not cleared your download folder during this time.
As far as getting a claim through USPS from an Amazon label, yes you can submit a claim for the label and get paid directly to you from USPS (we have had to do it from time to time). Just remember that you have to wait 15 days after the shipping date before filing and to provide the address for USPS to send you a check. The process is slow but can be done even though the label was purchased on Amazon (works as well with PayPal labels).
EDIT ADD: Just check on how long the Reprint Label will work … the order has to be within the last 30 days for the Reprint Label option to be available.
Thanks for the ideas. My reprint label button is gone (it was purchased on April 13) and my labels purchased don’t generate as downloads apparently., they just open in a pop-up window with nothing in my download folder. (I’ll check and see if this is a setting somewhere that I can change for future use.)
Instead of printing individually from the order, print the label from the Buy Shipping in Bulk (note: yes you can print just one label in Buy Shipping in Bulk if needed).
In the Label Print Orientation, any of the PDF options will work and the first 4x6 PNG option will work. Set your browser to open PDFs in Adobe Reader (if you don’ have it you can get it for free). Then when you go to print, the label will open in Adobe Reader. From there you can print the label and you could start a folder to save the PDF labels into for future reference (like you need in this instance).
You could also print the packing slip as a PDF and save to a folder for future use.
Though admittedly a Luddite, we keep a packing slip w/ tracking # on the top. About 2 filing cabinets worth (most vendors have that much space) and rid ourselves of their presence every 7 years-when the IRS no longer wants 'em!
Before aghast forum members mention my pathetic backwardness, am well aware computer files take less room; easier to deal with-dependent on one’s age and computer savvy
Those files have saved our bacon several times.
You can download a 90-day report from the Order Reports [link]
@Old-Timer You get a gold star! ![]()
This is exactly what I needed; thank you so much!
HERE’S A TIP: If you connect your Amazon seller account to a free shipping platform like Shippo you will have access to every Amazon customer address even after it ships. No need to purchase your shipping labels through them, just use it like I do >> to search for past orders by name, address or order number. It’s also a big help with processing returns.
Welcome to SAS ! … and that is an awesome tip!
