New choices for FBA Ship to Amazon

No, you can’t split expiration dates. What I would do in this scenario is put the earliest date for both lots. Amazon has no mechanism for rotation or FIFO so it doesn’t matter. I’ve done exactly what I state above plenty of times.

I’m not even sure they even check the date vs. what the shipment says. If they actually do, sending in something with a further out date will cause no issues.

I can’t guarantee anything, I can just tell you what we have done without issue in the past, a number of times.

Yeah, the trick is trying to split all shipping inventory into at least 4 boxes, so you’re given the option to use the free optimized inventory splits; then, you can compare the cost vs shipping to fewer destinations. For small and light products, using the free optimized inventory splits has always been significantly cheaper for us than using the mininal or partial shipment splits. For large and heavy products, it varies, though.

I was wrong about this :arrow_heading_up:. Just finished setting up a shipment there.

Ordinarily we ship in shippers of 6 cases each - 6X24=144 units. Setting up the shipment, entered shipping cases of 24 units each. 30 in this instance (720 units).

Walmart split them up 3 ways and broke our normal shipper apart. I cancelled that shipment.

Went back in and said we were shipping master cases of 144 units. Walmart split it in 2, no fees.

2 Shippers to IL, 3 to GA. We pay no fees, minimal freight, keep our shippers consistent.

I still haven’t done anything with Amazon yet but I imagine it to be the same situation for us, except the packing templates on Amazon do what I did at Walmart manually (trickery of sorts).

In theory, at Amazon, as long as we ship at least 5 shippers (templates), there will be no fees according to the rule of 5 that’s being tossed about in this thread. We’ll see.

Umm, what now? Then why have I been charged the inbound placement fees on my last 3 shipments? Hmm.

The trick is that since March 1, and for 45 days, to April 15th, all those shipment incur a placement fee (if charged), that are then charged your account 45 days after.

Basically, Amazon is giving everyone Net 45 days on each charge.

They are such sweethearts, aren’t they?

They’re doing it to make it impossible to track.

I thought they did this because they are too slow and stupid to roll out the FBA reduction and the placement fees at the same time or their busted system couldn’t handle 2 changes at once when they can’t roll a single thing out right - EVER!

The reality is Amazon is actually sort of doing the right thing even though this placement crap stinks. They aren’t charging it until 45 days after the shipment has been received and counted.

Because FBA associates can’t count, they don’t want to miss out on pretend overages or have to give $ back on shortages.

Here’s the policy

When you create a shipping plan, you’ll see a fee estimate for each available inbound placement option. You’ll be charged the FBA inbound placement service fee 45 days after your shipment is received, based on the inbound location and the quantities received.

I think they are doing a look at the left hand, while the right hand rips you off.

I seem to recall some changes to something called First Class mail and some ‘minor’ issues around a Ground Advantage conversion. Seems that it only took a couple months longer than it was supposed to… :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Someone woke up in a gracious mood this morning …

Extended Time Line?

The transition still is not “fixed” as seen by the estimated delivery times in Buy Shipping

Sorry, but I just got back from an actual vacation. First full week+ away in almost 4 1/2 years due to the crash with the drunk involving my wife.

It will take me a couple days to re-acclimate myself to my normal snark. Hit the airport in Vieques PR at 10am Saturday, with 85 degrees and got home at almost 11pm to 25 degrees and snow on the ground.

Went for a hike with the 50+ daughter and three grandkids – 27, 19, and 15. Found out the 76+ old guy can almost keep up when they humor me.

They always say to come back with souvenirs and this was my only one as a result of the ‘easy part’ around the point –

Amazon often APPEARS to be under-pricing things, and taking a loss on each sale, hoping to make it up in volume. The most common scenario is when they knock off a successful item with their own “Amazon Essentials” or other house brands, and underprice the legitimate brand, to drive them off the amazon platform, or out of business entirely.

In the extremely rare event of what seems amazon’s error in the seller’s favor, one is well within one’s rights to shrug and accept the apparent error as a conscious policy decision by amazon with a tangible benefit to amazon.

Posing this as a “moral conundrum” is using the wrong metrics. So if the product sells, be assured that Amazon is making money, and don’t waste your time trying to “correct” their choice of “sizes”. You do not design their “bins”, so you cannot fathom how they actually “store” anything in an FC.

I do not feel under any obligation to “pay for storage” on the 30 cubic feet of my product that Amazon has “lost” in various FCs. That 900 lbs of my product has been reimbursed, and they own it as far as I am concerned.

Ya, sorry but with all the people in the world thinking theft is okay because it’s different when a company/government has to eat it, I think it is a larger moral question.
I know they made a mistake as I can read it on the screen, AND I am not a sociopath, so the question is a moral one.

I also don’t use the whole two wrongs make a right argument when operating a business.

I flew a 180’ long airplane designed before I was born, and not once in over two decades did I know how the variable stator vanes worked or how their bushings were installed, but I knew just enough to know what they SHOULDN’T look like if I wanted to live beyond my next flight, enabling me to make an informed decision for the lives of about a hundred people.
Basic physics and common business practices tell me this data/outcome is incorrect and to assume otherwise would make me appear to me mentally decelerated to any peer worthy of my respect. Therefore the question arises if it is morally questionable, therefore asking the moral question above.

Different strokes for different folks.

Whoa! I’ve been under a rock for this one! I did a huge send before leaving the country and now it’s time to start sending again.

Today I wanted to send a single pallet re-stock. Last time I did this it was $126 all-in.

Today, I’m getting these options

$706 if I want to do 5 separate shipments SPD
$674 LTL

3 shipments I get
$387 shipping + $184 fee SPD
or $533 LTL

1 shipment I get
$303 shipping + $376 fee SPD
$133.48 shipping + $376 LTL

So $126 and now my best option is $500?

I’m trying to process what I’m seeing but it’s hard to see through the tears.

Yup…

There’s a FBA fee reduction coming on 4-15 to make up for some of this. Check that out and see where you land.

It’s actually better for us because our products are tiny but I see it causing pain for others.

See post 155 above / below where I lay it out. Created our first 4 shipment plans this week since things changed. Worked out as I described perfectly.

I was off 2 cents in this analysis per unit. Fee dropping 18 cents per unit, not 20.
