> Hello,
>
> Effective November 2, 2026, we’re updating our [commercial liability insurance requirements](https://sellercentral.amazon.com/nms/sellermobile/redirect/2f05cc9f-0651-3807-95a3-fd41a6b04ee1?nt=COS_14891551_POLICY&sk=jAdjYdz6wNNw9qrcXWwJsdRr4G-vRoFV9JqtX_UHO2DJoDo4xZUc9o92eBH9qkq6Zk_2fiiht6FzjTK4dW8z-Q&n=1&u=aHR0cHM6Ly9zZWxsZXJjZW50cmFsLmFtYXpvbi5jb20vaGVscC9odWIvcmVmZXJlbmNlL2V4dGVybmFsL0cyMDAzODYzMDA) to help protect Amazon’s customers as well as help you protect your business from financial loss in the event of a product-related incident.
>
> Our existing policy requires all sellers to obtain and maintain commercial liability insurance within 30 days if gross proceeds from [Amazon.com](http://Amazon.com) sales exceed USD 10,000 in any month, with minimum coverage of USD 1 million per occurrence and in the aggregate. While these requirements remain, we are introducing two additional requirements.
>
> First, sellers with products listed in categories with enhanced safety listing requirements will now be required to maintain a commercial liability insurance policy that covers those products, with a minimum coverage of USD 1 million per occurrence and in aggregate, regardless of whether they meet the USD 10,000 gross proceeds in a month threshold. This change applies to both new and existing listings.
>
> Product categories with enhanced safety listing requirements include, but are not limited to, children’s products, cosmetic and ingestible products, and lithium battery products. For the full list of categories impacted by these changes, go to [Product categories with enhanced safety listing requirements](https://sellercentral.amazon.com/nms/sellermobile/redirect/9cbb9f50-454c-3a9d-b3f5-19f0ffe90b07?nt=COS_14891551_POLICY&sk=2PJD9AMDw4QwLkGwhH_Fu6Fg4QQawE2cKdr6Huua0b37ChZTtLQIPjJyrMX6t_-R0Xye7Ud2VXDYWOKEYXgJog&n=1&u=aHR0cHM6Ly9zZWxsZXJjZW50cmFsLmFtYXpvbi5jb20vaGVscC9odWIvcmVmZXJlbmNlL0c0UlVHNkVBVDJaTFZTUlQ).
>
> Second, sellers based in Mainland China must now obtain their insurance through the Amazon Insurance Accelerator (AIA) program. AIA connects you with a network of pre-vetted insurers who understand Amazon’s coverage requirements, making it easier to secure compliant coverage, avoid policy rejections, and ensure your claims are supported when they arise. Starting November 2, 2026, we will reject newly submitted insurance policies that are not obtained through AIA. If you have a valid third-party insurance policy that meets the coverage requirements and was submitted to Amazon before November 2, you can continue using it until it expires. After that policy expires, you will be required to obtain insurance through AIA.
>
> If we determine that you require new or updated commercial liability insurance based on the categories that you sell in, you’ll receive an email from us requesting that you provide proof of insurance within 45 days of that notification. The email will include resources for obtaining coverage and instructions for submitting your documentation.
>
> These changes will take effect starting November 2, 2026. If you don’t submit required proof of commercial liability insurance, your listings in categories with enhanced safety listing requirements may be deactivated until you provide compliant documentation. Your listings in other categories will not be impacted.
>
> The updated [Commercial Liability Insurance requirements](https://sellercentral.amazon.com/nms/sellermobile/redirect/2f05cc9f-0651-3807-95a3-fd41a6b04ee1?nt=COS_14891551_POLICY&sk=jAdjYdz6wNNw9qrcXWwJsdRr4G-vRoFV9JqtX_UHO2DJoDo4xZUc9o92eBH9qkq6Zk_2fiiht6FzjTK4dW8z-Q&n=1&u=aHR0cHM6Ly9zZWxsZXJjZW50cmFsLmFtYXpvbi5jb20vaGVscC9odWIvcmVmZXJlbmNlL2V4dGVybmFsL0cyMDAzODYzMDA) page reflects these changes. This is good news. Making insurance policies flow through US insurers makes sure that customers in the US are covered instead of the murky waters of Mainland China insurers. Not only will it keep more of the revenue in the US but it will definitely help weed out some of the bad actors as many won’t qualify for insurance here. Of course Amazon didn’t do this for any of those purposes but I still applaud them for doing it.

So Chubb, our current carrier for the completely separate insurance coverage to apply to Amazon’s requirements (no connection to the ISO-GBL policy for the business as a whole) announced that they were adding a new exclusion for “advertising injury” meaning copyright/trademark squabbles.

This prompted me to try go to the page linked by Amazon to compare coverage options:

> **[Amazon Seller Insurance](https://www.secureaffinity.marsh.com/sellerinsurance/en-US/home)**
>
> This is a meta description ready to be customized.

But it hangs

The correct URL is

> **[Amazon Seller Insurance | Product Liability Insurance | Marsh](https://affinity.marsh.com/amazonsellers/home.html)**
>
> Amazon and Marsh have collaborated to support Amazon’s digital insurance network, Amazon Insurance Accelerator, making it easy for small businesses to purchase affordable and compliant product liability coverage.

But that only leads BACK to the Amazon insurance page.

This is interesting for a couple reasons…

_ **Effective November 2, 2026, Amazon requires commercial liability insurance for enhanced-safety-category sellers regardless of sales volume, and requires China-based sellers to buy through Amazon’s own insurance program. Here’s what changed and who needs to act.** _

About time. That’s all I’m going to say… otherwise I’ll get banned for 1,000 years.

ooops. Missed your thread.

I knew someone would have caught this announcement before I did.

Also interesting that this forum’s “Your post is similar to” didn’t catch it.

This is a good move to protect customers. However, I do not applaud Amazon in the least. It helps their bottom line, nothing more and nothing less. Amazon doesn’t give a turd about customers unless it helps their bottom line. If Amazon could get away with murder, they would if it helped their bottom line.

And we wonder why so many people (especially younger people) are disillusioned with capitalism. All they see is people in power that want to take every single last cent. Power, greed, and corruption are the norm in every single level of society.

I am just catching up on shows on streaming services after we changed to Spectrum. I’m almost through watching the second season of The Punisher. It’s apparently a Marvel Comics character that I didn’t know about.

What can I say – my comic days ended in about 1959 when they cost 10 cents!

The show is a total reflection of your comment on society today. They take on politicians, the Government, the Cops, the CIA, big business, the Military. You name it, there is little or no love lost for any of the normal ‘institutional pillars’ of modern society.

Some days I can’t really dispute much of what they say, which is a sad commentary on where we are currently…

Just as an FYI, check your product’s classification before applying for or renewing coverage.

As discussed elsewhere, our product was misclassified as a pesticide by an amazon bot.

This pesticide classification made our amazon-required insurance MUCH more expensive, and the underwriters saw and reacted to the misclassification as if it were fact, never mind that they had insured the product in prior years.

Our own ISO CGL policy includes all the coverage we need, but Amazon is a whole 'nother barrel of monkeys from any normal business, so we also get the “amazon seller insurance” through Amazon’s partners, for a few hundred a year, just to eliminate a claim against our actual business policy for any Amazon nonsense.
