No refund on first scan - why not? AZ filed.

Return shipping? Yeah you won’t get that back on those. You would have to take the chance of not refunding for like a week or 10 days until it then auto refunds. Then you can file that claim.

However, you run the risk that someone files a claim within that interim time period.

I just encountered this feedback request on seller central:

Over the past 3 months, how have Amazon’s protections against abusive returns changed?

  • Improved
  • Have not changed
  • Worsened
  • Not sure

I just tried to do a partial refund. The product price was $15.79. I was not charged for the return label but some of the mfg packaging was not returned so it is no longer ‘new’; so I decided to refund her $12.00 but it won’t let me refund that much? I never do partial refunds, why is there a problem -

Could this limit be due to her being charged for the return label?

This is the way it has always been for handmade category where there is no RFS. It’s either 50% or less or total. So stupid. So many times I just want to recover a small amount to cover a missing component. Refunding 50% just draws a lot of blowback with buyers. There used to be a way to get around this with a flat file upload but I don’t know if that is still an option.

There hasn’t been any yet for not refunding her at all.

I thought I could refund more than 50% - $12 vs $7.89 but it’s trying to force me to only refund $7.89 ??
That’s why I wondered if the return label charged to her is a factor in this somehow.

Can you do it in two steps? OR go to the original order by clicking on the order number (not the return page) and then try? Is there a spot for additional refund?

I tried that, same result.

It doesn’t make sense to limit our options to refund above 50% when it’s from our own funds.

and then this?

I didn’t hit send because I just wanted the screenshots. So the partial refund limited me to 50% but on the bottom, I could have entered an additional funds to get to a higher amount, but not full. It didn’t look like I needed to attach pictures this way, but I don’t know for sure because I didn’t put it all the way through

Ya know, I do have a return that is discretionary and it did not refund upon first scan. Let me go try to do a refund on that order this way and see if it goes through and if the customer doesn’t complain.

And then I went to the return page and clicked on close the return, chose partial refund issued.

So we shall see where this goes. Put control of getting that return shipping back in my hands without waiting for Amazon and a SAFE-T claim later

Heads up: you have full customer names on both of your refund screenshots, unclear if those are PII to the point that they should be redacted.

Fixed it for her …

Thank you

This is the result, I was blocked from any additional amount.

Your refund is 50%, I was trying to refund more than 50%. The error says I cannot refund more than $7.89 - which is 50%.

I was going to ask if you had tried doing the refund via an order adjustment file, but when checking that page, I just get an error message when trying to download the template. Not sure if it’s just me, or if they are doing away with that.

Can you do a larger shot of the screen Please?

Not now, I’ve already submitted the refund Amazon allowed.

Not worth the trouble to give the buyer $2 more dollars. She lied about the return reason, did not return all packaging, did not contact me before filing A-Z, and Amazon denied the A-Z so I suspect she has a dicey return history.

I just checked the download functionality of the Upload Order Related Files Dashboard’s “Adjustments” ‘tab’ @ https: //sellercentral.amazon.com/order-reports-and-feeds/feeds/adjustments, & I’m also getting an error - presented as a pop-up v. of the apparently-deprecated SHC page “Adjustments Template” @ https: //sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/13511; a similar error appears to exist for the download functionality of the “Order Cancellations” ‘tab’ (which redirects to a different apparently-deprecated SHC page, @ https: //sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/50831).

I’ll have to check to see if either capability is still possible w/ an XML feed, but as I suspect there’s @ least some possibility that this could be simply a fleeting error, I’ll probably wait to see whether or not this corrects itself.

Progress, of a sort: both of these SHC pages have been partially restored; they no longer display the “Help topic not found” error, but they are still basically devoid of content - the former page does include a note that templates are only available to the Professional Selling Plan, not the Individual, but provides nothing else, much less the former access to the template(s); the latter has no content whatsoever, other than the page title itself & a link to the Satisfaction Survey, à la the similarly-“blank” SHC page “Process Return Requests” @ https: //sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/201725690.

I suspect that the recent evisceration of the sole-remaining RAO (“Return Attribute Override”) reason, High Value Exemption, as announced in the 010926 News Headline “Prepaid return labels required for high-value items starting February 8” (link, Seller Central) likely means that the templates won’t be coming back, but -
