Hi @HobbesIsMyTiger,

I think I’ve got it straight now: What @TEXASEXILEBOOKS described was deletion of the offer, which leaves the SKU in Amazon’s system, while @dwat0870 gave the instructions on how to remove the SKU, which removes all record of the book from Amazon. That requires using the Inventory Loader, which I have not used yet as Biblio uploads my books to Amazon for me.

I will check out the Inventory Loader when I have a chance.

So many things to do, lol.

Thanks for your help.

Nancy

I’m afraid that’s still not quite right.
It is important to clarify the difference between an ASIN and a SKU.
An ASIN is the item listing in Amazon’s catalog. This cannot be deleted.
A SKU is the listing in a seller’s catalog. This can be deleted.

Sellers often use these terms interchangeably, but generally an ASIN is talking about the listing itself and a SKU is talking about your offer for that item.

Both @TEXASEXILEBOOKS and @dwat0870 gave you instructions for deleting your SKU from your catalog, not the ASIN. The instruction from @TEXASEXILEBOOKS are easier, faster, and usually work fine. The instructions for @dwat0870 using the inventory loader are more thorough and less likely to result in Amazon “zombie listings” where a deleted SKU magically revives itself without warning and can result in a sale for an item you cannot fulfill.

Thanks @HobbesIsMyTiger,

I do understand the difference between the ASIN and my SKU. I should have said, “the instructions on how to remove my SKU, which removes all record of MY book (offer) from Amazon.”

I appreciaate the clarification.

Hi @papy ,

Yes, slowly!

I find that Biblio is deleting my sold skus automatically when I upload my spreadsheet with those books marked “sold,” as Manage All Inventory" is not displaying anything when I choose “Closed,” “Out of Stock,” or “Listing Removed.”

I have dragged about 25 skus (kicking and screaming!) out of the “Fix Your Products” category, but I still have pages and pages of “Fix Your Products”–over 200 books. Most don’t show any conflicting info on the Fix Your Products page, and when I choose “Edit Draft” the form won’t even let me enter an isbn.

I think fixing the books already entered in my spreadsheet is a lost cause, so I’ll concentrate going forward on trying to follow Amazon’s listing conventions for books I will be newly entering now. This will slow my already-slow data entry down even further, I’m afraid.

I just wish I could tell what things specifically are causing the problems. (I have decided to keep the “Author” field clean and put editors and translators in the Notes field; I noticed that for one book where I included this info in “Author,” Amazon created a new ASIN with this info totally garbled.) I’m also going to omit diacritic marks in Author and Title, adding the correct spelling in brackets.

I’m now seriously looking into ABE, lol.

Thanks for your interest in my “journey”, papy!

If using brackets, experiment first. There are a few places in Amazon where brackets are either ignored or cause trouble.

Hi @bookwormapril,

Thanks for your reply.

I’ve checked, and a number of books with bracketed info in author or title are coming up fine. Amazon’s ignoring the bracketed info is fine by me.

I’m not going to let Amazon’s problems interfere with my listing books correctly. If that means they won’t appear on Amazon, so be it.

I’m resigned to it. 🙂
