Upcoming USPS Rate Shock on July 12th

It’s not just the current fuel costs.

It’s also the pending motor oil shortage that will affect all US-based motor vehicle based movement of stock and orders.

Ah OK, my oversight…I missed that you said you were talking about bound printed matter.

3 of those model railroad magazines sold to one buyer.

Did not use BPM. Shipped via Flat Rate Priority which still let me give the buyer a decent refund on the shipping cost.

The fourth and last magazine sold. Finally shipped it BPM. Charged me $3.95.

Cleared close to $50 on the four magazines. Paid for a tank of gas.

Please keep to the topic of USPS Rate increase on July 12th.

Has Amazon or Veeqo announced what they are passing through on the GA price increase. Both are using negotiated rates according to Veeqo. In the past, rate increases on Amazon’s negotiated rates have not been simultaneous with commercial rate increases.

I am preparing to consider to switch all of my shipping to Veeqo, if they are not affected.

With the April 2026 increase, Amazon’s USPS rate was 6% less than the USPS Commercial rate on Ground Advantage less than 1lb.

With the April 2026 increase, our USPS account rate was 6.8% less than the USPS Commercial rate. We did not negotiate this rate as it is the rate we were given for signing up with a business account.

What we noticed is that our USPS rate was $0.05 less than the Amazon USPS rate. This made us question whether or not Amazon was getting the same rate as we did through USPS but was charging $0.05 more to make some money off of the purchase of labels. If we wanted to, we could set up customer label purchasing through our account and charge $0.05 more than the price we pay. So Amazon isn’t doing anything wrong but it is not something that is disclosed or widely known.

EDIT add …

Veeqo will experience the increase in July as will every other 3rd party USPS label provider. The increase will be less on these provider sites than the posted USPS Commercial rate but their pricing will go up.

Prices are the same. I compared it, It made it worth it to use veeqo for Amazon at least. I still keep my stamps account because every now and then veeqo pulls a “no shipper available” But somehow stamps recognizes the address,.

Anything less than one pound will definitely be a much better fit for FBA after the change. Stamps.com just convinced me of that as a 3 ounce package price to ship to the west coast is well over $6 now. If it wasn’t for the bay, I’d get rid of stamps.com completely.

Hopefully Amazons HIGH Price rule doesn’t shut down a bunch of listings when sellers are forced to increase prices to offset the higher shipping costs

Good luck with that. All they will do is compare to THEIR item with no ‘shipping charge’ and everyone else is toast.

The only hope is gas goes to $15/gallon and they get hammered on all the miles they put on those trucks.

It absolutely will happen.

I wouldn’t count on that lasting. FBA will raise it’s fees to cover their own increased shipping.

I just received an email stating that renewals (in many locations) and key/lock replacement costs are increasing as well.

I can’t wait for the day to be done with USPS.

And who will be left to deal with - Amazon? and UPS?

FEDEX is selling off parts of their company. The sold off the freight operation, and last week they sold off their fulfillment operation.

Is the rate shock actually going to happen on July 12 for Amazon and Ebay sellers?

Rates changes on both Amazon and Ebay June 22. Are the current rates the negotiated rates?

Great question. I asked a ‘help desk’ question about it regarding not having received a notice from Stamps/Dazzle/Endicia about any rate changes and they were supposed to get me an answer within 48 hours and that was 4 DAYS ago.

Must be a former Amazon employee…

My apologies for being unclear…

I was not hoping for the demise of the USPS… was referring to my need for them. Other than getting the weekly Giant Eagle sale ads, I have no recurring use for them other than for my daily pickups.

It will and it’s a joke. I was looking for NeeDoh for my daughter. Some colors were showing “click for high price options” that were cheaper than the ones that had the buy box. This shows you how arbitrary that rule is.

All it really shows is that price isn’t the only factor, but we knew that. Speed of delivery and inventory available are also factors. This isn’t to say the BB is rational or sensible.

Did I miss or sleep through a change/clarification on this stuff?

Today Pirate Ship sent this out in an email –

:package: Ground Advantage rates for under 1 pound are increasing

USPS is unifying ounce-based rates for Ground Advantage at the Commercial Pricing rate, making all shipments to non-continental destinations that weigh less than 15.99 oz cost the same as a 15.99 oz shipment. For example, a 2 oz Ground Advantage package will now cost the same as a 15.99 oz package.

These new Commercial Pricing rates will affect shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and military addresses—USPS has not announced rate changes for any other locations.

I have not heard anything back from my contact at Stamps. I just checked for a rate on a shipment for 7/13 and the rate is the same as today!

Holding my breath that nothing changes for 99% of my shipping…
