Yup. I still have half a box left from 20 years ago. LOL. That’s what will be used…
Plus it will open up a huge storage area in this house that’s much needed… My MIL won’t care if we put a bunch of our ■■■■ up there. haha

Pro Tip:
In my experience, I’ve found that drilling a ‘pilot hole’ - for “Deckmate” T-25-diameter screws, I prefer a 3/16" drill bit - about ½-way through the thickness of the wood used for attic flooring (among other project usages) offers a superior ‘anchoring’ bond.
I would also recommend that there should be a screw not further apart than every 2’ (18" - even better, albeit slightly more costly) along the _edges_ of the flooring workpiece (if the aforementioned ‘wires atop joists’ scenario comes into play, this length can best be adjusted by using two screws w/in 4-6" of each side of where the 2-foot rule would’ve placed one screw had not it already been occupied by such wiring/cabling).
May I ask if y’all’s floor joists were made with 2" x 6" lumber or greater?

2X6, 16" on center
It’s not a very big house so the spans aren’t big.

That was another reason we didn’t attempt to do the entire attic area. Our house is a couple years shy of 100 years old. The studs and rafters are almost petrified. We smoked a few bits just trying to get our center run attached.

In a situation like that - with it being given that the flooring is @ least 9/16" thick - I think that you’ll find that _most_ local/county/state building codes will find it acceptable to use only 3 screws for each of the ‘middle joists’ underpinning a 4’-wide piece of flooring, rather than the minimum of 5 the 2" Rule prescripts for the edges of the flooring workpiece.
However, we all know that you and yours live in the Capital Of The World/Big Apple, and it’s undoubtedly prudent to ensure that any-possible future Building Inspection won’t throw a monkey-wrench into your works by examining what Queens County has to say on the subject.

_Touché_; I personally prefer “Spax” screws for anchoring larger load-bearing connections - but they _ **are** _ a **great** product, just like “Deckmate” sells.
There’s a reason why you can find both of them, in various lengths, in my personal stores wherever we have a barn, shed, attic, basement, garage, or workshop which can afford space to keep them out of the weather while they’re still unused.

I don’t think there’s a building code for attic decking that isn’t even code to begin with but you never know around here or how things might change…

Late August can be very nice in NYC, with comfortable temps in the 70s much of the time. I have noticed this for years. Rain predictions have been overstated lately, with dire warnings turning into non-events.

I’ve heard one meteorologist state that this area is the hardest in the country to give an accurate forecast, due to the way the geography can magnify even a small difference in storm tracking.
And I think that there was a recent system where you got little or nothing, we got hammered, and I think that, as the crow flies, we’re within 10 miles of each other. It’s so variable depending on where the weather is coming from; not like when I was growing up in the south, and everything came from WSW, with only very rare exceptions.

The reality is we don’t even need the AC on the second floor. That’s my MILs house. She’s at her summer place in Ulster County from April - October. But we do have the unit on at 82 degrees bc it gets hot up there and the cats do hang out up there, using the cat door between the houses. LOL
Eddie (our 1 year old) still hasn’t figured out how to use it so we have it taped open so we do get a warm breeze through that hole in the wall sadly…

Isn’t it amazing, how cat’s can be so incredibly smart and so unbelievably dumb at the same time. 😉

Ollie figured it our immediately.
But he also knows his name. Comes when you call him, when you ask him if he wants to go upstairs, he runs to the cat door, and knows what “do you want to eat?” means.

Incessant heavy rain here in Indy. Areas near the White River have been especially hit hard. It has made the national news with bridges and road being swept away and potentially even an issue of the main sewer main of a northside suburb failing.
Professionally, the constant extremely high humidity has been wrecking havoc on so many buildings. We have to bring in a certain amount of fresh air, and lately that air is so damp that systems simply struggle.

Was in Danville, Illinois on Saturday and got to experience the southern edge of that big storm that hit Indiana. Flash Flooding alert on my phone woke me up about 3 AM. Lots of thunder and lightning (along with the rain).

Those alerts can be great or terrifying, depending.
We went to a movie last night (UECK about WI legend Bob Uecker) and in the middle of the movie we discovered how many people did NOT turn off their phones when the ‘Tornado Alert’ had several going off.
By the time the movie was finished and we got out of the theater the sky was pretty clear and no messages to be found!
