My sister got it for the first time in mid-October; thankfully finding out BEFORE she got on the plane to London. A bit worrisome, as sheâs just a few months off chemo, and still not up to full immune quality, but came out fine.
Iâm sure Iâve had it, but never tested positive for it
I know my son had it because he was pretty sick right after my wife had it in March of 2020. She tested positive for the antibodies in June of 2020. He never got it again ![]()
There were no tests back then when they were sick. Wifey has had it 2 more times since. Iâve had it twice and my daughter has had it 7 times confirmed by testing. Vaxed and boostedâŚ
My MIL had it once. We were able to somehow protect my late FIL from ever getting it before he passed in July of 2023. So I did know someone that never had it actually.
On the bright side, looking at the radar looks to me like the storm is moving too far east to have a huge impact. And weâre no longer under a âWatchâ, but an âadvisoryâ, and predictions are actually getting less. So hopefully this will just be a miss, at least in regards to the snow (gonna be damn cold no matter what).
⌠and our weather people got it wrong again ⌠we got an inch or so of snow this past couple of hours ⌠oh well ⌠we needed the moisture âŚ
Still seeing 3-5" here in the forecast.
Unsure whether or not to check in on the snowblower that hasnât been in years in the morningâŚ
I always run it out of gas at the end of the season so it should be good to go.
A friendly reminder. Plug space heaters directly into the wall. NEVER INTO A POWER STRIP OR EXTENSION CORD!
Stay safe, and bake some cookies! (Seriously, using the oven is a great way to warm up a house quick!)
We now have a warning, saying 5-8", so back up closer to what it was 24 hours ago.
But watching some predictions, gonna get REALLY wild for some people. Actually a chance of measurable snow in New Orleans, and ice in Tampa!
The weather is horrible here: unseasonably cold, and crud in the air. We even tied a record locally.
Temps are getting down into the low 40s at night. And the local record was that all three cats were on the bed at night. Usually it is one, maybe two.
The sunsets are burnt orange as ash blows over the ocean from the fires up north of us.
My absolute favorite thing to do on days like today.
Been baking since 10 am half are already gone!
We already have a sleet / snow mix here. Just fired up the snow blower to test it. All good and ready⌠Didnât put much gas in it just in case we donât get what they say we will.
I take care of a lot of my elderly neighbors properties. Itâs quick and easy. Very oversized snow blower for our 42X100 property. LOL. I have it because of our driveway which is 75 feet long.
1.6 inches of snow in Central Park, less than 3 inches in your neck of the woods. No snow-blower needed?
About 3" here. Got enough shoveled to avoid any tickets, but havenât cleared off the van yet. Working in 15 minute stints; going back out to hopefully finish soon.
Also, I need a new pair of gloves (or at least some miracle showing me where my old ones are!)
Probably around 2 here actually but I used the snowblower anyway and it worked better than I thought it would, considering the density of the snow. It got jammed up a few times but once it got going, it stayed going. Took 2 hours to do 6 properties and clean off all of our cars. 10PM - Midnight. Put down some salt and woke up to dry and ice free walkways.
I plugged my old space heater into an extension cord once. Fortunately it was a white extension cord. I saw a spot on the cord that was turning brown. I felt it and wow! - it was getting hot. I turned off the heater and plugged it directly into the wall before disaster was able to happen like the photo above.
My current space heater is plugged directly into the wall. It also has a timer and temperature controls which help reduce these type of problems.
I made cookies this weekend! Oatmeal chocolate chip.
Not surprised.
Everyone I know in the Greater NY area is tested whenever they get the sniffles and is more likely to be diagnosed with Covid when their symptoms are few.
People in other areas are less likely to test unless they feel like total crap. And some, not even then.
Prescriptions for Paxlovid are harder to get, too. There are a lot of prescriptions which are more likely to be written in the NY area and have been for 50 or more years.
OMG my very favorite cookie. ![]()
How generous of you to do your neighborsâ properties. When I lived in South Dakota, was a young single woman who worked nights as a newspaper copy editor, there was a man with a riding snowblower who would clear the driveways on the entire street, including my little apartment building. And this was after dark, too. It was so kind of him.
