It’s a scorcher today (for 6-21)… 92 at noon…

Was curious about your “feels like” :skull:

I’m considering setting up my portable 10,000 BTU AC unit to give our CAC a hand and not stress it out… It’s 18 years old.

Setting it up is my SOP when it’s 95 or above. Currently the thermostat is set at 75 degrees and it’s been on almost continuously since 11am.

Ollie doesn’t seem to care. He’s been hanging out all day in my MIL’s place upstairs (who is at her summer home). That CAC unit is set at 82.

I see we jumped another 2 degrees to 94… Oh boy…

It’s gonna get worse; not only is the temp still rising, but so is the dewpoint. And Sunday is forecast to by 97 with dewpoint in the high 60s.

Too make it worse, I’m gonna run out of pre-made food soon, and might have to actually cook in the next few days.

But now we’re getting ready to shoot a new video for YouTube; which means that several of the ACs (and fans) will need to be turned off. Hope we make it…

This has been my issue. Don’t mind cooling, but this week has been all BBQ and Chips or takeout. No idea what tonight is going to be

Yeah, I’m considering firing up the grill to do some kebabs or something like that, but the idea of standing outside in 95° doesn’t make it too appealing. (plus, with kebabs, I really want some fragrant rice to serve with it, so would be cooking on the stove anyway).

I’ll probably do a curry with the chicken instead. Run the exhaust fan a full blast (we thankfully live in a house old enough the vent hood actually vents outdoors), doesn’t take too long and makes enough for leftovers, so at least get one extra night from it.

Don’t forget you can do breakfast for dinner! Pancakes are at least a low heat cook

And there is always cereal supper, ice cream supper, salad bar, hot potato bar with microwaved potatoes, “dips for dinner”…

One word, Mini Split.

Ok, two words…

Two more words, Ice Cream!

A little warm here… 90 with heat index 102. Thank goodness I have my own ice cream… eating directly out of the tub.

Portable AC had been brought into service to boost the CAC… Not taking any chances with broken expensive equipment from over-stress…

It all in your perspective …

Our son from Phoenix AZ is visiting us here in the panhandle of TX this week. He is loving our 90 to 95 weather right now. It’s a vacation from the 110 to 117 that he has at home. Although when you go outside, the humidity makes up for the difference.

CAC is the only way to go in either TX or AZ.

We can talk about winter another time.

When I purchased this house 6 years ago, the HVAC (only AC) was 31 years old and still running strong as heck. Back when it was “Tough to stop a Trane”

Got the compressor and blower/coil replaced about 2 years ago BEFORE it died. Heat is separate boiler fired baseboards so not a ton to worry about there.

It’s down to 84 here but it looks like the storms might miss us to the east sadly.

The lights aren’t flickering anymore which is good. They were most of the day.

We have underground power which is good and bad. About 12 years ago, something major blew up underground and our entire neighborhood was being powered by a giant tractor trailer 52 foot diesel generator for a week while they fixed it.

We could use a good strong thunderstorm right about now. The wind outside our 20+ floor window feels very strong right now.

82 degrees, 54 RH now in our apartment, which is fairly comfortable w/o using the CAC.

Doesn’t look like it’s going to happen… Looks to be east and they seem to be fizzling out anyway.

I feel a bit sorry for you guys. Here in WI it hasn’t been too bad. A couple days near 90 and the next couple should be in the mid 80’s with rain ( and probable flooding in areas).

We generally just look at it this way —

Well, I thought that seeing my thermometer had dropped down to 80 that I might be able to get a late walk in.
But then I checked the Air Quality; it’s “Unhealthy”.

Guess I’ll just stay inside.

Crockpot. The easiest type of cooking a person can do.
