Odds are that no mod will give an opinion on this … but we shall see.
I can be pretty annoying. Lets see…
Please do.
Some things which might bear keeping in mind:
-
The PDP in question - @ least at some time in the past, if not now - was under the auspices of a 1P Seller (i.e., a participant in the Vendor Central Program), as may be seen in the presence of A+ Content under the heading of “From the manufacturer” (what used to be known as ‘EMC,’ an ‘Amazonese’ acronym for “Enhanced Marketing Content”)
-
The presence of A+ Content that is in ‘Amazonese’ known as a “Brand Story” (signified by the heading “From the brand”) would seem to suggest that either the IP RO itself (TRQ) - or perhaps more likely, a designated agent in the Brand Registry (2.0/3.0/4.0/etc.) Program - decided that the “Brand Benefits” available by creating one were worth the effort in increasing BSR
-
The apparent lack of participation in the “Automotive & Powersports Part Finder and Fitment Data” (link, SHC) Program could be a reflection of just how poor results have proven to be in what once worked pretty well - as has been widely reported in various discussion venues ever since the PT (“Product Types and Attributes”) Initiative was deployed in Q3 of 2019, & its subsequent tweakings via the “Attribute Harmonization Initiative” & “Size Normalization Initiative” - from such participation after Amazon began messing around with Fitment Data submissions & displays in its never-ending pursuit of “one size fits all” (pun intended) ‘solutions.’
I’m with you - to my mind, this IS a pretty clear indication of BSR manipulation, and I sincerely doubt that it’s what Amazon’s policy makers intended, @ least in the original premise - but to be fair, I’d have to admit that I don’t really blame TRQ for doing what they can to keep their profits accumulating in the face of Amazon’s ever-evolving changes…
Agreed, dont blame them. Just calculating my risk as to jumping in the same boat.
I have not read of any prohibitions against lumping all variations under one listing. Personally, I would disregard opinions from the mods unless they are quoting policy.

The issue is these are not variations.
Something being the same category of item does not make it a variation.
