Can anybody tell me if they know if this acceptable under amazon policy?

This listing has over 2,100 variations. Each variation is technically a different product, fitting a different vehicle. It is quite obvious the goal here is to manipulate rankings, which is working as the sales ranking graph and internal data shows.

Please let me know your thoughts!

My gosh. That is sloppy as crud!

First … the URL is for a 2008-2012 Accord
https ://www.amazon.com/TRQ-Fender-Compatible-2008-2012-Accord/dp/B0BSWH9K3D

Second … the title is for a 1993-1997 Dodge Intrepid

Screenshot 2025-02-05 at 19-46-21 Amazon.com TRQ Front Left Inner Fender Liner Black Drivers Side Compatible with 1993-1997 Dodge Intrepid CH1248102

Third … and they listed under a truck part …

The product page that is shown to us doesn’t show any variations …

This is how I’m seeing it and I guess whatever vehicle you have saved in your garage goes to the correct fender liner ??? What a mess!

And you can’t tell from the drop down list which auto type / auto model / auto style that you would be looking at. Nobody is going through that list to find the one that fits their car.

Right, the dropdown/variations are usless - agreed. The issue is that all the listings now have amazing ranking because amazon seems to be aggregating the sales together as one product. Customers will still find the right variation via the normal search, but this product will show up with great ranking a #1 Best Seller badging.

Question is, is it against policy?

That right there is a listing that will be supported 100% by ad linking and nothing more. But all their reviews will be on one listing

Honestly? I’m not seeing a clear violation or agree that they wouldn’t be the same product varying by “Style” (the model they fit). The parent would be " Inner Fender Liner"

The only things I could really go after:

  1. Size would be more relevant
  2. The use of the ASINs for Style, which should be the model/year they fit

Actually … I’d feel better about a Size/Style Theme if available.

  • Styles, Left/Right
  • Size, Model/Year

I just don’t see Amazon busting this.

So, by this logic. If I sell refidgerator water filters, of which I am sure 1000’s of variations exist for diferent types of fridge’s, I can just lump those all into 1 listing and get a best seller out of it?

Not saying your wrong, it would just seem like a super easy way to exploit Amazon ranking for almost any product. Just list a product under any type of category and list all versions under that.

I do get your thinking, I do, and can’t totally disagree, but …

Listing all versions of a product is kind of what “Variation Relationships” are all about.

Well I guess its time to combine all 44 million book titles listed on amazon under one listing, since they are variations of a book.

No two books are any more related to each other than two fender liners are.

I just am having trouble coming to terms with the possible fact that Amazon wants this possibility in a listing.

Google told me this. I would say the products are not fundamentally the same since they fit different vehicles IMHO.

My biggest issue here is just want to make sure this is Amazon legal before I jump in and change our listings to have 2,000 variations as well.

I feel it would break at least the products cannot be desrcribed by a single product title rule.

I would contend they are “fundamentally the same”, “Vary in only a few specific ways” (but a little iffy), “Can share a single title”, might be “expected to be seen on the same page” … because they are all the same part, an Inner Fender Liner.

Well every one of their 2000 variations have different titles. If they didnt customer would never find the item tehy want to purchase because customers have to search for the vehicle along with inner fender liner.

I will also take this back to all books, regardless of titles, can be desribed by “Book”.

Cell phone cases, regardless of model fitment, can be described as cell phone case.

Would amazon allow a cell phone case user to combine 1000 variations that fit completly different phones?

In any case, I will see what the forum mods say. Will update with any applicable information.

But they can be by removing the Theme’d fields, which is how it works with Amazon.

i.e. -
Child ASIN can have a title - TRQ Men’s Flannel Shirt (Red)(Lg) = Color/Size
Child ASIN can have a title - TRQ Front Inner Fender Liner (Black)(Drivers Side - Compatible with 1993-1997 Dodge Intrepid) = Color/Style

Which is why there are no Variations for Books allowed by sellers, although we can agree that Amazon does this for them with Paperback, Hardcover, etc.

100%, and I’ve done it many times for sellers in the past.

Even when the variation names give no identiy to what the variation is?

So you feel its resonable that Amazon expects a customer to click 1 by 1 through 2100 variatinos to find an item that fits their vehicle.

Are we in crazy land?

Hey, If amazon wants to have bat â– â– â– â–  crazy policy, not my call.

Just means I will start combing all 3000 fender liners, door handles, hoods, and everything we sell under one listing.

The rankings and reviews will be great.

On that part, no.

I hate Amazon…

In any case I will dig more and see if I can get some direct answers.
