2026 First Postal Increase of the Year

So this notice came across from Pirate Ship. I do have a question though – when they say " Lightweight Ground Advantage shipments under 1 lb will see average rate increases of 4% compared to the most recent pricing." do they mean the most recent STANDARD pricing or is it 4% more than the freaking HOLIDAY prices?? :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

Unfortunately, this time it is the freaking HOLIDAY prices.

Edit Add …
Zone 5 for a 4oz package is almost a $1 more than the price increase as of 7-13-2025 … $4.45 up to $5.40.

As a follow up …

We checked the USPS site this morning 01/18/2026 and the new pricing for 2026 is in place.

We also checked Amazon Buy Shipping this morning 01/18/2026. Amazon has not yet update to reflect the new pricing.

We did a sample test of Ground Advantage 3oz package for 3 zones on USPS site to get an idea of what we will be seeing with commercial special pricing (which is a discount off of the published commercial pricing).

Zone 5 GA 3oz - $5.02 (published $5.40) - was $4.76

Zone 6 GA 3oz - $5.15 (published $5.56) - was $4.87

Zone 7 GA 3oz - $5.24 (published $5.68) - was $4.95

I tried to see what a GA label for a 3 oz, zone 8 package, going out on Tue 1/20 will be on Amazon Buy shipping and right now it’s still showing the old rate of $5.15. Wonder if it’ll go up by Tue? I don’t really like to buy the label before the date I’d ship the package. Is it worth it to do it this time to save 60 some cents?

For us … no … as it would mess with our AHT estimates for future orders. Besides, there is always the possibility that Amazon would do adjustments in the future.

If you want to see the new price, you can go to USPS site, act like you are going to create a label for that address, and view the new price (it does require signing in to do this and have a business account).

Ebay is showing the new pricing.

This hits me hard, most of my orders are at the 4 ounce rate. Not sure how much this is going to hurt the $8 and $10 items.

Been having a run of multiple item orders recently, so we really did not get a strong feel for the effects of the holiday surcharged rates.

Also a surge in orders at the $25 price point.

Just when I think I’ve gotten the hang of things, I wind up having to feel my way around.

Amazon seller central is running sluggish for us right now … maybe they’re doing the USPS update currently?

I’m purchasing a GA label for a 3 oz, zone 8 package on Amazon Buy shipping this morning. Looks like Amazon hasn’t updated the prices yet, it’s still same as before $5.15.

I hope this is not going to be a problem. Is USPS going to come back to charge me extra later, or would Amazon pay it out of their pocket since it’s their fault.

We noticed the same on all of our packages. They were 3oz going to various regions and all of them were at the older price.

We have a spreadsheet set up with all of the orders involved so that, if Amazon does the “Other” charge to do the adjustment, we can cross reference the amount.

Unless, there was a size or weight adjustment because of a user (seller) error in entering weight and dimension, I don’t see how this would legally be possible since you receive a $ amount confirmation upon purchase of the label. That would be like a buyer getting an adjustment on a purchase (afterwards) because Amazon forgot to change the advertised price.

We had Amazon do just that on Priority Mail Flat Rate envelopes going to Hawaii. USPS had special pricing for all of the lower 48 states for Priority Mail Flat Rate envelopes but Hawaii and Alaska were not included. We received $0.35 other charges for each one of them. We even used that exact argument “That would be like a buyer getting an adjustment on a purchase (afterwards) because Amazon forgot to change the correct price”. We got Amazon to acknowledge it and Amazon was to give us a credit back for the other charges. The credit never happened.

Because of this prior experience with Amazon …

@Lost_My_Marbles Is this still the same for you?

I haven’t purchased a USPS GA label through Buy shipping since Jan 22, purchased one today for a 2 oz, zone 7 label this morning, and the Amazon is still charging us the same as before $4.95.

What’s happening? Amazon negotiated a better deal with USPS, or Amazon just going to eat the extra cost, or are we all going to get charged later by USPS?

Same this morning here. Pirate Ship $5.29

It has remained the same pricing as the holiday surplus add on price during the holiday season.

To be determined. We have been tracking price charged verses expected charge price (based on what PayPal is charging for similar package) just in case we get a surprise “other” charge down the line.

It’s been about a month and, if Amazon was being forced to repay the difference, we are sure 1) we would be seeing the “other” charges and 2) Amazon would be working on correcting the pricing in Buy Shipping because it costs Amazon time and money to handle and rehandle each of these transactions.

Amazon finally did their USPS price increase for January 2026.

USPS showed the following for:
USPS Ground Advantage Commercial Zone 5 / Zone 6 - 3oz

5.40 5.56
5.89 5.96
6.04 6.24
7.12 7.28

Amazon as of 2/19/2026 shows:

USPS Ground Advantage Commercial Zone 5 / Zone 6 - 3oz

5.07 5.20
5.45 5.52
5.89 6.09
6.87 7.03

This was the Xmas upcharge pricing:

4.76 4.87
5.09 5.15
5.86 6.05
6.84 6.99

So for us, today’s increase is $0.31 to $0.37 for most of our orders. Now we all get to wait to see if we will get “other” charges for the difference of postage purchased for the last month (Jan 19, 2026 thru February 18, 2026).
