2026 Updates to US Referral and Fulfillment by Amazon Fees

Before anyone freaks out, the link to the fee structure isn’t written well (shocker). What I thought was a 25 cent a unit increase for small standard (4-8oz) is really only a Nickel….

Evidently this bold part about low inventory fees is the important part…. Not sure why they lead with this.

And when exactly is the “Fuel Surcharge” going away from a couple years ago? Oh wait, that was the no increase last year….

US FBA fees

To continue improving delivery speeds that drive increased sales for your products while helping offset increased operational and labor costs of maintaining healthy inventory levels that are critical to those fast speeds, we will adjust standard-size fulfillment fees and low-inventory-level fees.

  • Standard-size products priced between $10-$50: Small standard-size product fulfillment fees in this price range will increase by $0.25 per unit and Large standard-size product fees will increase by $0.05 per unit, on average. For more details, go to FBA fulfillment fee.

Actual Announcement:

Hello,

We want to thank you for your continued partnership in serving customers with amazing products, great prices, and convenient delivery. Our partnership has driven record-breaking sales for independent sellers like you.

We’d like to share our 2026 updates to US Referral and Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) fees.

In 2026, FBA fees will increase by an average of $0.08 per unit sold, or less than 0.5% of an average item’s selling price. This is on top of no increase in US Referral and FBA fees in 2025. We have been working hard to drive innovation and efficiencies that keep costs down, which helps keep fee increases low for you. Our fee changes are significantly less than inflation and less than the 3.9%-5.9% annual cost increases from other major US carriers during the last two years.

We continue to better align our fee structure and rates to our underlying costs. We’ve created more granularity in our fee structure so we can offer lower fees where our costs are lower, and higher fees where we provide enhanced services or additional value that come at a higher cost. This includes investing in improved forecasting, inventory placement, and automation that drives faster delivery promises and higher sales for billions of products fulfilled through FBA. We’ll also add new returns features, reduce defects that cause missing and damaged inventory, and provide faster removals processing. You also gain the opportunity to achieve lower fee options where it makes sense for your business, including by updating your product packaging, selecting lower cost inbound shipment options, and maintaining healthy inventory levels.

We continue to focus on providing you with stability by minimizing your operational burden and costs. There will be no new FBA fee types in 2026, and we’re providing earlier notice and improved tools to make it easier for you to optimize your sales and profitability. To understand how these changes will impact your business, you can use the Revenue Calculator and Fee and Economics Preview report which are being updated with the 2026 rates. You can also use the new Profit Analytics dashboard to get a detailed view of your unit economics, including the ability to see how fee changes impact each of your products. You have at least 90 days before any fee increases take effect.

For specific fee change details, go to 2026 US Referral and Fulfillment by Amazon Fees. Unless otherwise noted, all changes will be effective January 15, 2026.

Thank you for selling in Amazon’s store. Your success remains our priority as we continue to provide enhanced capabilities to support your business growth and provide a great value. We appreciate your partnership and look forward to an even greater year of seller success in 2026.

What really confused me is they happened to send this email the very day Q4 peak fees kicked in which added to the confusion.

To make a long story short. Our “Hero” listing is going from $3.68 to $3.73 during non-peak.

It is what it is, but we have already calculated the “Claw Back” on our advertising. Sorry Amazon, you just lost $19.23 per day from our budget.

We might lose a couple sales but I like to do things out of spite sometimes. LOL

I haven’t looked into this in detail yet (got bigger fish to fry at the moment: holiday peak fulfillment fee, upcoming FBA limits, etc.), although at first sight, it doesn’t look as bad as in previous years. However, a $0.25 increase for standard-sized items between $10 and $50 (probably our most common type of product) could prove worse than it looks, given the already low margins most people operate with. At least I’m (somewhat) glad to see that “Removal and disposal fees for standard-size aged items weighing less than 0.5 lb will be reduced by $0.20 per unit”. We don’t place many removal orders, but have had a couple of costly mistakes this year that this would have helped with.

I would take a look at the rate card on the link. What I thought was 25 cents was 5….

The 25 cents first mentioned is for inventory that is low inventory.

And be careful when you look at that too because I got confused because Amazon happened to send this note on the very day peak kicked in… My brain couldn’t figure out why the “now” rates were off…

I don’t think so… what the text says, verbatim, is:

Standard-size products priced between $10-$50: Small standard-size product fulfillment fees in this price range will increase by $0.25 per unit and Large standard-size product fees will increase by $0.05 per unit, on average.

You know what. You’re right. I’m wrong. I dislike standard and large standard verbiage. It’s nonsensical…

Our products are very small but yet are LARGE in Amazon’s eyes. We are seeing 5 cents and, I guess, really small standard items are getting jacked 5X that.

My bad.

The other thing that threw me was the price change announcements, directly follow the bolded “we will also adjust standard-size fulfillment fees and low-inventory-level fees.

So I connected the 2, because that would be logical but this is Amazon.

What in the world would a bottle of supplements be considered LARGE for, considering some of the nonsense I’ve bought on Amazon?

Anything small on Amazon is defined as something with 1 side under an inch or something stupid like that.

Anything bigger than an inch is large standard.

Maybe Amazon finally figured out that it costs the same to process / ship “small” and wanted to catch up with the times.

25 cents is a lot though. Doesn’t seem like much but it is…

I’m not sure they get their turn with the braincell.
