Acronym translations

I think that this used to be the norm (at least, it was one that I used a lot), until the tax situation changed, and Amazon started collecting sales tax in many (now all) states under the Marketplace Facilitator laws. I think that now “MF” is less clear, and I prefer FBM (as I see used most often on the NSFE).
And gotta admit, there are a lot of TLAs here I’m not familiar with (Three Letter Acronym).

I do not disagree.

With all due respect here it’s due, please allow me to paraphrase the Stones:

Is on y’all’s side -

Yes it is.

Well, Pepper and DogTamer, since you are both eager for this task, wouldn’t it be lovely to have a little popup, so that if you click or hover on an acronym, the full phrase pops up.
There, now a simple list for FAQ seems much easier, right?

Such a nifty feature would definitely be easier - for the User who seeks that knowledge being available On Demand.

Not so much for the System Administrator(s) who have to support such functionality, especially-so given to certain limitations of the Software Suite Platform, Discourse, which hosts this forum.

I was just dreaming…I would be “delighted” to have a simple list to refer to! And as I said, I will print out the ones you put up until that day comes.

My acronym knowledge is minimal, so I Google them only to get definitions like “Belgian Ladies Sewing Society” or “defunct Japanese submarine.” I appreciate the lists here

Ya know, that’s a great idea.

Not sure if we can do it, but I’m going to look into it

Don’t know how I missed this subject, thanks to whomever pinned it.

TLA’s and FLA’s are a favorite of mine. At one time I traveled the US and the World and did a lot of speaking on networking. I had a “bit” where I spoke (correctly for those in the trade) in TLA’s and FLA’s for one segment. Most if not all in the audience were perplexed. I then explained TLA’s and FLA’s and why people should translate them.

Before I forget;
TLA = Two or Three Letter Abbreviation
FLA = Four Letter Abbreviation

Interesting thought, we have been learning Adobe Acrobat Pro in the last month or two. It has features just like this where you can have Words or Phrases be popup’s to define the details.

This is creating an interactive PDF file.

We have two projects under way in beta, one is Map App. Numeric tables that lead to graphic images, those graphic images lead to a zoom of a particular region etc… That makes this a popular product we offer interactive. The conversion to Kindle, or sale as a PDF app, is the final goal.

The second is a a training and marketing book with links internal, graphic images that lead to more detail. We have links to inside the book, for reference and popups as well as links to outside websites for state laws and case law on the subject. We just tested adding an imbedded video to this book. It is based on the power of aerial imaging, one of our vertical markets.

We are very surprised the power of these interactive PDF’s.

And here we have the rub. While the popup would be simple with the Adobe Pro Interactive PDF application. Discourse, not so much. And if you could, (we are a big WordPress operation,) I know the maintenance to create and keep something like that running.

For now we bookmarked this thread. Works for me!

If not a hovering pop up, then maybe something like the emoji selection but instead an Acronym selection. Click the selection and type in the one you want to know … it shows up with the answer.

A “Hover Over” Plugin has been found!

Scratch that, it is not up to date and will not function.

I’ll keep looking

MF - Merchant Fulfilled (a marketplace seller’s OFFER on amazon that is FBM)
FBM - Fulfilled By Merchant (1: a way [an option] of selling goods on amazon, 2: an OFFER on amazon that is being offered or sold via the FBM option which can more technically be referred to as the AFN )
MFN - Merchant Fulfilled Network (1: the Amazon system/network that handles FBM Offers 2: also used by many to mean MF or FBM)

So these 3 are often used interchangeably

Ok i am nerding out but in the sentence “ i went all DTE “ DTE is an adverb modifying the verb “went”. In the sentence “I may have just DTE’d you”, DTE’d is a verb. Ok everyone roll your eyes now and get on with it….

First I also would like to welcome you to the SAS, an organic great site to get help and help others!

MFN, MF or FBM, we call it FBus in house. It stands for Fulfilled By Us. Just makes more sense from the manufacturing and shipping chairs that we sit in.

Thanks for posting!

Just pointing out–because it can get confusing with Ms and Fs–that while FBM and MFN are seller-fulfilled, MCF is Amazon-fulfilled at seller request from FBA stock in Amazon FCs, based on orders on other (non-Amazon) sales channels.

Whozzit thinks that FBM stand for Fulfilled by Meredith. I don’t have the heart to tell him otherwise.
