Amazon Buy Shipping Still Doing USPS First Class

Except that implies Amazon will stop issuing FC Package labels early enough that the existing ones will be used or expired by the deadline. If Amazon is still offering sellers FC labels and not the new Ground Advantage, I have to assume that return labels are the same.

I only hope they update this for return labels in time…

It is a shame, too. On many of my orders I can save about $1.00 by using Ground Advantage instead of Priority Mail.

You should be seeing the Ground Advantage rates on Amazon - they’re just listed under ‘Parcel Select’. Amazon has the rates programmed in, the only thing they haven’t changed is the names.

If they don’t, then no RFS cause it will be rejected

And thus the included $100 outbound insurance, the included $100 inbound insurance and included return service will not be honored by USPS.

Buy Shipping does make the included $100 outbound insurance kind of mute in the case of INR, but it does not cover for the lost of a item being damaged during return due to an undeliverable address which USPS GA will now cover.

I’ve been smelling a rat since Memorial Day:

Methinks the stink is rising higher…

We already know where we each stand on the value of these.

But I was specifically addressing @Setalpz’s comment that they could save $1 if Amazon would offer Ground Advantage, suggesting they thought Amazon had not yet implemented the lower rates. But, according to what I’ve checked, the lower rates are what Amazon is currently using, so they don’t have to overpay by purchasing PM on the assumption that the lower GA rates are not yet programmed in. They are.

Since roughly Memorial Day, Amazon has been messing around with the transit times for most USPS services in Buy Shipping. They’ve been all over the place, and if you haven’t learned to look at what Buy Shipping is offering you and adjust your shipping templates if needed when it changes, you’re bound to run into situations where the service you want isn’t available.

Of course, it would be available, if sellers would adjust their shipping templates to give Buy Shipping what it needs. But few seem to understand (or care) how it works. :woman_shrugging:

I am constrained to agree - but it’s certainly not because you didn’t do everything you could to explain how it works with your many tutorials back in the OSFE days.

I was just re-reading some of them recently (so that I could archive their present NSFE-version URLs), and felt a moistening in my eye when I saw some of our well-missed friend Bad Brittnie’s contributions…

Arrival estimates are curious. Parcel Select / Ground Advantage is faster than Priority Mail?

buy shipping huh

Amazon estimates have been all over the place for a while …
We have seen Priority Mail Legal Flat Rate be a day faster that Priority Mail Flat Rate (regular size).

@Roxy and I have been exchanging notes on this for a while. The only thing we can say is “yep but just wait until tomorrow”

Did you also notice that Parcel Select (and only Parcel Select) will give “Sunday” as an estimated delivery date?

“All over the place” is what Buy Shipping is at the moment, for sure.

Currently, the programming has changed so that first-class mail is a 3 transit day service from me in Oregon to the east coast (as opposed to the 5 days it’s always been). That means I could shorten my delivery times to a mere 3 days to buyers on the far side of the country, and still be covered by Buy Shipping protection against late deliveries because I used it to buy my labels.

If you’re competing for the Buy Box on delivery times, you can use this to your advantage, at least until Amazon changes things again. In the meantime, ssshhhh, don’t tell them.

I’m just AMAZed how the biggest online retailer can be so horrible. I think they’ve resorted to AI doing their programming changes now. You’ll never hear a robot ask for a raise, time off, or form a union.

And they are getting what they paid for but we’re not!

Shopify is also still using First Class Package Service. We purchased a FCPS label for a 12 oz package last night. So there is more to the story…….

This may have to do with Amazon’s and Shopify’s negotiated rates.

As of tonight, Buy Shipping only shows FC for us. Shipping from North Florida to Los Angles is 4 days transit time (Thur, 7/13 - Tues, 7/18) and it’s 3 days to PA (Thur, 7/13 - Mon, 7/17). Doesn’t seem like anything has changed for us yet…

Are those the same transit times the system showed you before for first-class, do you know?

I keep a close eye on what Buy Shipping “tells” me, so I notice pretty quickly when Amazon changes something.

From Oregon, the only destinations that were previously 3 transit days from me (according to Buy Shipping, not reality) were CA, AZ, CO, NM, UT, and ID.

States in the middle of the country (TX, MN, WI, IL) were 4 days, and everywhere else was 5 - even WA and OR. Nothing was ever less than 3 days.

Now, WA and OR are 2 days ( :astonished: ), the east coast is 3, and the states that were previously 3 and 4 days are still 3 and 4 days.
