They opened new ones with better material handling equipment. For example the new one in SMF (Stockton) has a lot more robots than the one down the road. They also closed an older building when they opened the brand new one next to the Airport SMF1 and 6.
The air operations in Sac and Stockton have pushed operations closer to airports instead of out in sticks like Tracy (OAK3) and SBD/LGB.
The push to Amazon Freight LTL has also pushed some changes in major metro hubs like the new FC up in Portland PSC1.
Amazon is trying to feed the 40 million customers next/same day delivery to cut into WalMart’s market share.
They have finally started hiring for one in my region that has been “ready” for months.
