Amazon just sent this email out to us (and others have reported getting it).
Hello,
Starting September 21, 2026, your payouts will arrive within 24 hours, instead of 3 to 5 business days.
Express Payout is now active on your account, at no cost to you. No action is required.
Your default deposit method supports instant transfers, so your payouts will arrive within 24 hours after they’re initiated, including on weekends and holidays.
If a payout exceeds $10 million or can’t be delivered instantly, payout will switch automatically to standard delivery.
If you receive payouts on an eligible debit card, payouts of $50,000 or less will arrive on your card within 24 hours. Larger amounts will route to your bank account.
To review your Express Payout status and delivery details, go to the Payments dashboard.
Before … most of us would have had to pay to get it in one day. It was available, but Amazon gets enough of our money so we opted to wait a day or two to avoid giving Amazon more money.
Wells Fargo show it pending and adds it as part of your balance but it’s not really yours to use until it clears.
I also thought express payout came with giving “the house” a cut to get my money faster. I do like this if it is truly no-cost. I just have two questions: 1) Just how long will this remain no-cost, and 2) what prompted Amazon to do this? I suspect a government agency investigation or some type of lawsuit prompted this.
For me, Amazon disburses on Tuesday, it hits the bank on Friday. Whether you count that as 2 or 3 days (since Tuesday is at 6:00pm), yeah, we have to wait, and longer than even +1 days.
I’ve not seen any notice that we’re going to get anything faster. But we do a pretty decent job of managing cash-flow; unlike some whiners on NSFE, a known delay in getting funds is baked into our operations, and doesn’t cause a problem. But faster is better; every once in a while, it’s awkward, like the payout hitting the day after estimated taxes are due.
This really has nothing to do with Amazon doing anything for sellers, it’s a change the Federal Reserve made to ACH payments a while back. Basically, they tried to make xfers within their system faster, cheaper because it’s the 21st century and it’s all electronic. You can look up the rates on the fed website but it’s absurdly low. Something like .00002 per transaction for what I’m assuming would be Amazons level. At one point I know they were trying to get us to sign up for a percentage of our distribution for same day payments which would have been a massive profit center for them doing absolutely nothing.
