Amazon Email - Product Question with 24 Hour Response Needed

We remember customers asking questions on listing and being notified to answer a long time ago in the past but we haven’t had one in a long time. We got an email today with this (we removed product image

We responded well within the 24 hours but then wondered where this question showed up. Our question is … where would we view customer questions? They use to be on the listing but are not there any more. No notice comes through the email system. Where is the button that allows the customer to ask a question on a product? It use to be that other customers could answer the question also … but now?

Glitchmas is coming and Amazon is previewing a lot of surprise changes right now.

Ok … we found where the questions are asked … and it is AI powered which gives an answer. Now it has us wondering if AI generated the question and is using the seller to provide a data base for future answers?

Why the Respond within 24 hours? … Is this something else that we will take a metric hit on?

We stopped answering these questions years ago because it gained us nothing as a seller (esp on ASIN’s with other sellers).

We had a few items where it was ours/our brand and we answered questions there.

Why the 24h? Cause once again Amazon does not understand their own rules. No metrics here (yet)

Just noticed another Amazon glitch. The email we posted in opening the thread was sent to an old email address that we had pulled from Amazon years ago. It is bothersome as the domain this email address is associated with is scheduled to be retired next year. Amazon is the only one that has somehow retained and uses this old email address.

So our dilemma is … if we retire the domain, will Amazon 1) continue to send these important notifications to this old email address and 2) will Amazon treat a bounced email as reason to suspend our account?

I had one a few days ago asking “is the item new” for an item listed in new condition. :man_facepalming:

I’ll call that and raise it to pot limit.

I got a message asking about a new item. Go figure! They wanted to know if it included a certain piece which it did. Then THIS ensued. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I would actually have preferred that they never responded.

I started getting these.
All for items that Amazon has the buy box.
Most of the products Amazon has the buy box because they violate MAP.

So they want me to answer questions so they get the sale?!?!?!

“¿Quiero saber sobre la garantía de por vida? , y ¿como me funcionaria si quiero pedir el producto para colombia? ”

Customers are more likely to purchase when they get a prompt response.

Answer the questions yourself on products Amazon.

(Ranting here, just really pissed off I lost most of my sales from this company because of how they enforce MAP. Amazon gets a 6 month suspension. But they buy in such quantity that they don’t run out until the 6 months is almost up. They raise their prices to MAP, Purchase and lower the prices.)
