Seems pathetic to me, but what do I know of the business of, “Influencers.”

It’s basically this:
How do you falsely market products without getting sued for false advertising?
You get a bunch of people who failed to be an influencer on instagram to work for affiliate commissions.
And then people sue them.
Yep, it’s happened!
Amazon doesn’t care about that. That’s their problem. That’s why they’re willing to pay the affiliate commissions, to distance themselves from the false marketing.
Watching top gear uk (classics) on prime video and just saw an ad for some foundation makeup powder done by some influencer.
Yeah Amazon ad bots are just as intelligent as amazon seller policy bots, lol
Some of those influencers are making more on referral fees that we make on all of our sales, 5x over. Sadly, many are having serious effects on younger girls; I heard a report of pre-teen girls asking for Retinol and similar products for Xmas (and getting it)!
But yeah, hard to imagine a gear-head being the target audience. I wonder, though, if it uses any personal info from your Amazon or other accounts to determine your ads? I know that YouTube does; I can tell when Nisha has been researching a weird subject, as we start seeing ads for things like diamond grading; although I’ve never figured out what triggered the ad for the “magnets you need for your new cruise missile design”.

The Junk Drawer
Influencers can be shortcuts (social capital) to finding a ‘good’ brand for housewares etc., but since they’re usually sent things for free, I consider it with a grain of salt if I’m making an investment in something with actual cost to it or if it’s electronic that could, you know, blow up in my hands.
The Budweiser Clydesdale commercials do not disappoint.
