So when we verified our Brazil account, it triggered a recertification of our Amazon business address for some reason (even though it’s the same and hasn’t changed). Our Brazil account successfully verified. Of course, I verified Brazil a day or two before Amazon posted that you didn’t need to if you didn’t sell there.
We’ve done this verification before under the US INFORM act and normally the postcard only takes a couple days to arrive so I wasn’t worried. I requested the postcard last Wednesday night (which is why the recertification request first appeared) and it shipped Thursday from Ohio (we are in Wisconsin) with a Monday delivery date. It got to Milwaukee late Thursday night so obviously I’m feeling pretty good at the time about being able to verify in time easily as we are half an hour from Milwaukee. I think the email said you have 10 days.
Sunday night, I get a UPS email that delivery had been rescheduled to today for some reason. I started to get a bit nervous. I checked tracking again last night around 10pm CDT and the damn postcard was now in Virginia. Needless to say, I assumed it wasn’t getting here in time so I requested another postcard to be sent on Amazon because otherwise I’m not going to make the 10 day period.
Of course, between like 10pm and 3am last night…..the original postcard gets re-routed back this way and it’s delivered today (again, of course). Meanwhile, the second postcard hasn’t even shipped yet. I expect it to ship tonight and be here Friday but that’s based off the first one they sent.
What do they do if you don’t verify within the 10 days? I’ve heard they suspend you, I’ve heard they don’t as long as the postcard is in process. I’ve heard the replacement postcard has the same code as the original, is this true? Should I try putting the code from the one I got today in?
Irritated. The whole Brazil thing caused this.
I want to assume (make an ■■■ out of me), that Amazon would be smart enough to check tracking before they suspend a seller. Afterall, they are in the tracking business…..
They can’t expect a seller to enter a code form a card they haven’t received yet, can they?
It’s Amazon … so we don’t think it would matter to them (unless NSFE blew up with a ton of people in the same boat).
If the second card doesn’t look like it will be there by the day before the dead line, then on the dad before the dead line we would probably open a case about it … and then post to NSFE with the case number citing what mods said about the whole Brazilian thing (if one still posts on NSFE).
So just now when I got to my account health, it finally shows an “address by” date of January 24. No date has ever shown there until literally just now…very odd.
I originally assumed it was 10 days from when we received the original email on January 7 (so January 17). Now, again, this is Amazon…they might still suspend us on the 17th regardless of what anything else says.
And now it shows 9 days 2 minutes later…I assume because 6pm CDT is technically the end of Amazon’s day.
My guess is you get exactly 7 days as a warning from when they send you that first email (which we received around 5:55PM CDT 7 days ago). Then, you get 10 more days after that to actually complete it.
I guess I lost a day by doing this all before 6pm CDT last Wednesday instead of at like 6:05.
It might have been 10 days … 7th to 17th and then reset when you requested the second postcard to be sent … 13th to 23rd (9 days from today is 23rd). The 24th is probably d-day when everything gets shut down if you don’t have it in by 23rd.
Ah…contrary to what they say, I figured I would try putting the first code in to see if it worked and it did. Interesting.
I wonder if that’s because the second one wasn’t actually shipped yet…
Would still keep an eye on it … especially if that second one is shipped.
Everything is back to healthy and all bad banners are gone….pretty sure I’m good to go.
I’m in WI also and have always been told that Amazon uses midnight (12AM) Pacific Coast Time – either standard or daylight – which is 2AM WI time the next day.
We are WAY ahead of those west coast clowns in so many ways…
… any behind those east coast clowns?
Stuck in The Middle With You

I usually reserve that song for times I’m at a blackjack table with clueless players that have never heard of basic strategy. It can get very expensive and I have the scars to prove it (financially). Other scars are from youthful stupidity…
Right, in terms of orders and such, 2am is indeed the cutoff for the day.
However, in terms of notifications sent or defects on ODR, it actually goes by midnight GMT….which is 6pm central.
So, if you get a negative feedback from an order that was ordered at 4pm central on October 1, the defect report will show October 1 as the date the defect came from.
However, if that order took place on October 1 at 7pm CDT, the defect report will actually show October 2 as the defect date and you will need to wait until the ODR shows October 3 before that comes off even though the order was actually done on October 1.
Just an update in case anyone else ever has an issue…second postcard came today and it had the same code as the first one.
Now the first one working after the second request makes sense….
Good to know though. Thanks
Correct…I’ve been told they never do that (put same code in second one) but I wonder if they do if the first one does not show delivery yet.
