Is it true, that you must use AHT and SSA in order for the “OTDR Protected” badge to be in effect?
Yes
AHT, SSA and buy the label via Amazon Buy Shipping for OTDR protection.
I do not have AHT on, I am not using SSA, but I do see both green checkmark shields when I purchase my shipping labels.
A. What I am shown is true.
B. What I am shown is false.
C. What I am shown is broken code.
D. It doesn’t matter because we’re in the Matrix.
Those badges are extremely misleading and in many cases false. They only stand to ADVERTISE the fact that buying your shipping from Amazon MIGHT be covered if certain conditions are met. One must hover the cursor over them and read the fine print to get the full story. Many sellers are being misguided by this shameful display.
I was one of them, until my employee enlightened me.
I resisted AHT and SSA because I was responsible for Amazon’s poor judgement.
My concern appears to now be rectified.
Does anyone have thoughts FOR or AGAINST doing AHT and SSA?
Can I turn them off if I have a problem with either one?
We turned on SSA first (in August) because we knew Amazon was taking away the 5-8 day transit time and would be giving estimate transit times using 3-5 days. We wanted to see how it preformed before trying AHT.
Because SSA has ended up with us having 2 late deliveries (which we wouldn’t have had with 5-8 day transit), we decided to turn on AHT to protect our OTDR. The first time we turned it on we didn’t have any orders for 2 days and so we turned it off. Orders came back to normal with it off. We waited until after 9/25/2024 and turned it on again. We went 1 day without any orders and after that it has started to trickle back in. We can not say that with AHT on that our orders are suffering as this is the time of year we generally get slower. All we can say is that we are a little slower than last year right now and that AHT is on. The prior month with AHT off was stronger than the previous year same month.
We have toggle ours off and on … but, if you were selected by Amazon to have AHT turned on, then you may not be able to turn it off. You won’t know until you go to try it. And even if you can, it may not remain off if Amazon decides that you are a candidate to have it turn on because of the metric rules they now have in place.
We are going to leave both AHT and SSA turned on and see if we can make it work since Amazon says they will not hold the seller responsible for errors in their calculation. If Amazon isn’t punishing us for shipping carrier issues and still covers any INR claims, then we will leave them on. If Amazon doesn’t follow their own OTDR policy, then we will make the needed changes to off set Amazon defaulting.
My last seller shipped sale was 3 weeks ago. I have SSA, bought through Amazon, no AHT. The shipping shows 2 badges, but if I hover over OTDR, I see this
No AHT = No OTDR
I wish they would change that to not show claims protected or OTDR protected with green checkmarks if you don’t have SSA or AHT enabled.
I’m waiting for the first few posts on NSFE that says they got in trouble for OTDR but shouldn’t have because it showed these green checkmarks when they bought postage (even though they weren’t really covered because they didn’t enable SSA or AHT).
That doesn’t mean you are protected.
Already happening.
Yes, I know.
We don’t have a sarcasm font (can we get one?). So I made up my multiple choice answers to show my disdain/disgust/oh ■■■■ who cares.
As with everything Amazon puts out lately, the coding of what to show to whom is only partially thought through.
