I have been getting a “policy violation” every week for abject nonsense.
“the item is not a proper variation” - show the manufacturer website done this 4x already
“new listing violation” - the listing is 20 years old and no explanation of what the violation is
“the item is banned for sale on Amazon as a flashlight baton weapon”- It’s 5 in long and 3/4 in diameter it’s not a weapon.
The only consistency in these violations are items that haven’t sold in over 1 year. I think Amazon is trying to clean their catalog up
I’ve been getting ASIN Creation Violations. Also like you, mostly on items I’ve never sold, or haven’t sold in years. I delete the ASINs and move on, when they try to shut down an ASIN I care about, I’ll try to figure out what’s actually going on.
New weapon determination policy: hand it to the Terminator (policy bots!) or John Wick and see if it can be used to kill someone.
Yeah, I know it’s unreasonable. That said, there’s a reason I keep one of the old school 3xD-cell Maglites in my trunk, and it is NOT because Maglites are the gold standard of flashlights anymore.
I used to do the same when in college! I live a safer life in a safer area these days, I hope.
I prefer the heft of my 4-cell models for that application; the tactical radius is not as large as may be had w/ my slip-stick, but the damage factor of impact tends to be greater.
I also prefer having such ‘insurance’ tools - like it, you don’t need it until you do - a bit closer at hand than the trunks of my vehicles.
The 3-cell model I have is inherited from mom from my childhood camping days. I think dad had the 4-cell. I swear I had a AA pocket model in my youth but haven’t seen it in forever (nor my childhood pocket knife, now that I think of it).
I’ve got other sharper tools in my car doors, closer to hand.
I still maintain various models of those, as I consider them as handy as a shirt pocket:
