The writer of this just stinks. Let me explain. I know about the “issue” of adding commercials (limited ROFL) to Prime programs.
It took them 5 or more paragraphs to even bring that REAL issue up. In our trade we call it burying the lead.
For us the value of prime was Prime Amazon Drive. They took that away and replaced it with Amazon Photos, and do not allow raw data files any longer.
Since they think that we will spend money with them to print photos. We can print photos as big as a wall, the last company I would want to do this is Amazon.
The job cuts are well justified like many of the other job cuts at Internet companies.
There is no data other than rants on social media about the ads, and often the rants on social media are just rants with no follow through.
In April, we can find out whether Prime Subscriptions dropped in Q1. They did not drop when the SAG and Writers’ strikes reduced the amount of video worth watching.
Remember when you read a post from CNBC that they are owned by Comcast who would like nothing more than for Prime Video to disappear. Not only because of their content but also because they are aggregating streaming services, and supplying hardware for streaming.
The only option we have in our “temporary” apartment is Comcast. For any data or telephone. We have tried to change the service, they make it impossible.
We also see/feel that they throttle the streaming with other providers. Comcast direct always works, Fire Stick, Amazon Prime, Philio etc. Not so much. Lots of waiting and skipping when streaming. Reminds me of the early days when Netflix entered streaming.
Running just under 1GB. No problems with any streams BUT there are competitive services here. Fidium is now available.
The technology is great, customer service is awful. Their techs bypass a punitive metrics system by giving you their cell phone number to call if you have problems after they are there for service.
Their trouble shooting tools are more than adequate for self diagnosis.
Xfinity Cellular makes the entire deal more cost effective. Running two lines for $15/mo plus tax and b.s. fees. On Verizon’s net. 5G service.
