Amazon Review Manipulation for Own Products?

I wasn’t sure where to put this, but please feel free to move to proper category.

I purchased Amazon (solimo) trash bags because the reviews were great. I’ve never had such a worse trash bag. They don’t hold and tear at the seams with the smallest amount of pressure.

I went back to look at the reviews and couldn’t believe its rating. So I left a 1-star review saying the bags split way too easily and cannot be used at all.

My review, predictably, got rejected for:

Spam
Promotions
Reviews given in exchange for cash, discounts
Links to other sites
Attempts to manipulate helpful votes
Plagiarism
Infringement
Impersonation

None of that was in there. I tried shortening the review to just sayint he bags rip very easily. Let’s see how that comes back.

Has there ever been a discussion about Amazon doing review manipulation for their own products?

I really wouldn’t put it past Amazon, but as a seller I find it best to just stay away from reviewing anything. Too many red flags and issues can pop up.

reviewed from my personal account.

With how many times people have been slapped for friends/family/employee reviews. Not worth it IMO. Just saying.

Agreed. Sometimes, I really want to review something, but I hold back.

I have had this happen.

We bought a box of Simpson screws (used with hangers and plates in construction.)

ASIN B006QD2JI6 The seller was Amazon.

The title indicates 500 screws in the box. The A+ content indicates 300 is what you get. My review was a 4 star, and constructive indicating that I did get 500 and the listing was wrong as outlined above.

The review got rejected, the reason, it was about the seller and not the product.

Amazon is run by stupid bots. :robot: :robot: :robot:

how do you screw up manufacturing trash bags? It’s a product literally meant to be thrown in the trash, it just needs to work well enough for that, and sealing up a bag is probably one of the simplest manufacturing processes in the modern day.

It was a bot keyword you hit somewhere. My reviews almost always get blocked (only the negative one’s oddly enough). After they are massaged (if I feel like it), they get through and I’m sure yours will as well.

If you’re looking for a great trash bag from Amazon, get these:

We’ve been using them for years and they are equal to, if not exceed any name brand in quality, toughness, and price…

I alternate between Amazon Basics and the Sams Club brand, whatever is cheaper when I need them.

although you need $75 for free shipping, I find these very consistent and durable.

Most likely the same manufacturer. Looks familiar. lol

A lot of these probably come from the same place.

OP just got a bad lot that wasn’t sealed properly

Probably so but at 20% less just shows Amazon is not the low price king on their basics.

Costco is cheaper than Amazon on almost everything.

You have to buy a membership to shop there though (Prime is also a membership but it’s optional) and there’s strings attached to getting free shipping and it’s usually not overnight shipping.

The exact Costco trash bags in the photo rock. They are well made. I buy nothing else. Costco tends to put their 'Kirkland" brand only on good-quality stuff.

Their coffee beans are a bargain and awesome too!

Not Kirkland, but we love this one (in .ca) :

possibly. they are so bad. LIke, the seams didn’t perfectly form so they just give up with any pressure of contents.
