Amazon shipping email --- false panic alert?

Amazon is trying to cause a panic. Today’s email:

Dear Seller,
We’ve identified this potential error in your ship rate configurations for the ship options and SKUs below: …
These ship options appear to have excessive shipping rates for these SKUs and are in violation of Amazon’s Marketplace Fair Pricing Policy.

  1. No actual SKUs were listed
  2. it refers to Migrated Shipping Template, which
    a. was set up umpteen years ago when postage was half the price it is now
    b. I haven’t used for at least 5 years
    c. has no SKUs assigned to it
    d. and for the record, I’m unable to delete.

It’s the word violation that made me cringe.

Why does Amazon send these emails?

Just a thought …

Is it set as your default?
If so, set one of the ones you are using as default and then see if you can delete it.

nope, not my default. Haven’t used it for at least 5 years.

Since you are not using it …
Try deleting (remove) all service types except Standard shipping and set that to $0.00. Save it.
Wait 24 hours and then try to delete it.

Even if you can’t delete it … with the shipping cost set to $0.00, it might remove the violation.

@meredithbead

do you not see this delete? … or does it not function?

I saw it. it’s grayed out and doesn’t work.

Making us work hard for this one …

Still would try this …

Curious … does this “violation” show up in your Performance Notifications or was it just the email?

If there are any violations, I don’t see them.

Did that. but as noted — the violation is claimed in the email, but can’t be found anywhere that I know of.

Have you made sure that you have no SKUs on this template? Closed, inactive, out of stock, anything? You cannot delete a template with any SKUs still on it.

Edit: I see that you said it has no SKUs assigned to it, sorry.

That’s on your account health area … look at Performance Notifications

OK I’m pretending to be fully awake now.

I have a few templates I cannot delete either. I’m thinking I have ghost ASINs that are attached to those templates. I’ve checked, double checked, and triple checked all my ASINs and they are all on one default template. Personally, I think the ghost ASINS (if so) might be old FBA listings and those templates had been assigned to them when they were switched back and forth between FBA and FBM. :man_shrugging:

Hobbes, yes, that’s what the email looks like.

Last entry is February 25 saying I completed my yearly business verification.

I get these periodically. There is violation in the sense of your account being damaged. It’s a violation in the sense that if your price is too high it violates their policy about fair pricing blah blah and they shut down your listing. In this case they just shut off a shipping option for whatever SKU they feel is improperly priced.

There is no need to worry about the health of your account because of this email.

Then the violation isn’t attached or charged to your account (as of now).

Could be Amazon is testing a new bot and you got lucky and received the preliminary test email.

We agree with @HobbesIsMyTiger

We would still set the shipping costs to zero in that template and circle back to it periodically to check to see if it can be deleted at some point … but don’t loose sleep about it for now.

Yep this….it won’t show as a violation in your dashboard.
