Amazon Shipping Service (Ship.Amazon) Warning/Trailer Issue

We have been shipping Ebay/Amazon orders with Amazon shipping for several months. Ever since Amazon started their package delivery service back up.

Mostly fine, packages lost here & there, but the claims process was always simple and easy to use so not a big deal for us.

I find out yesterday that one of our trailer pickups which contained about 5-6 pallets of packages was sitting in an Amazon trailer storage yard with those pallets inside.

This pickup was from two weeks ago.

It would seem a driver picked up the pallets and instead of dropping them off to be sorted/shipped to customers instead just took and dropped the trailer directly at the storage yard.

So for two weeks I have been dealing with: wheres my package, why havnt you shipped my package, why did you create a tracking number and scam me, etc etc.

So two weeks later I am notified of the colossol f-up. Their solution? To send the trailer back to me today. Okay… Fine I guess I need to see which pacakges we re-sent, which were refunded and ship out any ones that still need to. Which is no small task to go through all these pallets of packages and check each and every order to see what needs to be done. But I digest…

Anyways, so the trailer backs up into our loading dock today at 3:00pm. We start removing the 5 pallets. The driver starts to unhitch the trailer. My WM tells him he cant leave this here, we cannot even close our warehouse doors with a trailer backed into it. He basically flips us the bird unhitches it, says “im only getting paid to drop this off” and bugs out with his rig.

So here I sit 5:32pm with a huge friggin’ Amazon trailer in my loading dock, with a door that cannot be closed, waiting to see if my Amazon rep will send a truck to remove it so that I can go home to my wife and kiddo.

Absent of that happening I will be here overnight tonight and this weekend ensuring no intruders try to come into the warehouse.

I will update as events occur.

The complete lack of ability/communication between management and drivers is insane. I just get told “I am waiting to get VRID assigned”. How about “Hey, I called Jim, hes coming as soon as he can - sorry for the f-up our bad.” Do not give me your BS Amazon made up friggin language.

TLDR: Dont use Amazon shipping.

Call a tow truck company to impound the trailer.

The trailer will get moved … Amazon may not be happy but

Call a tow truck and have them haul it out just far enough to close the door. Any damage to the trailer tell Amazon to GPS

Yes you and @Pepper_Thine_Angus are right, if this thing doesn’t get moved in the next hour or so I am going to go with one of these approaches.

Its just mind bottling. Imagine UPS/Fedex pulling some S like this.

You get what you pay for I suppose.

YES!!! … would be so useful …

Yes. Because otherwise, there has been no inconvenience suffered. It only counts if it happens to Amazon.

This kind of miscommunication just happens. I had another guys aircraft “poorly positioned” in the same hanger and blocking in the “Starship Booby-Prize”, my 1952 Beechcraft Bonanza V-Tail. I saw the problem, went to my car, and called the FBO from the car, asking to have my plane fueled, and giving them my code to unlock the little lockbox that held the keys to the aircraft.
They saw the problem, and skilled pros that they were, moved the other plane for the errant pilot or mechanic, and added that “service” to HIS BILL. They towed my plane with the little tug over, and put in some AvGas, and even hosed her off. Tee Hee!! Conflict avodiance!

No, no! DON’T let Amazon take the trailer, just get some paint and a Saws-All, and put an “addition” on the building, like, ummm… THIS!

I don’t know how much those trailers cost, but I’m guessing they aren’t real cheap. Having someone tow it is a GREAT idea, but take it to the next level then.

They park the trailer someplace out of the way and inconspicuous.

Amazon eventually gets around to getting it and the answer is “I have no idea where it is. Someone came by and picked it up. I thought it was you guys.”

All of a sudden there is Amazon storage without the fees.

Don’t screw with the sellers!

They do make locks for them that lock out the air brakes. Kinda like a boot

Sorry, after a long day I had a few beers and passed out!

Well, the shipping rep calls me and says we are pretty busy right now. So we can either have somebody at 6:30pm tonight, or at 8:00am monday morning. Too which my response well, as I dont want to sleep here all weekend and not go home, 6:30pm will work.

Her offer of an 8:00am Monday morning pickup really pissed me off, and highlights how little she understood the situation. This this f’in trailer doesnt move I dont go home.

Long story short, driver came got the trailer and bugged out.

However, I now have a large task of sorting all these packages/orders out.

Not to mention document the negative feedback that I have received both on Amazon, and worse on eBay (to which they have no control).

I will be documenting everything and sending it over.

My expectation will be some sort of compensation or allowance. If there response is “shizz happens” I will be pulling the volume alltogether.

I will update as I can with the fallout/response to such a major â– â– â– â–  up.

My guess is they will tell you to pound sand. Given how unprofessional they are, they’re probably overloaded on work and don’t care if they lose volume. And given they couldn’t do a simple thing like a drop off correctly, I highly doubt they’ll have anyone competent to even hear your complaint.

I’m assuming you chose to use Amazon for this because it was cheaper? I guess the you get what you pay for saying holds true here. It’s cheaper because they hired unprofessional idiots to run things.

It would’ve been funny if you had their trailer towed somewhere and you held it hostage for compensation though.

What a nightmare for you. I hope someone higher up hears about this. Also, IMHO, dropping Amazon shipping altogether might be in order. What you went through, from beginning to end, is beyond unacceptable.
I think you were smart not to call a tow truck, because you can bet that you would ultimately have been stuck with the bill.

It’s all part of Amazon’s game. They don’t care. We once had an Amazon Freight driver refuse to pick up because they said our 70K foot building was too small for them to back their trailer up to.

If I had to call a tow truck because of the issue, they would not be getting the trailer back until they paid the bill.

Trailers are indeed expensive and there’s a reason why trucking companies don’t abandon their property on someone else’s property. With the exception of Amazon freight, anytime a trailer or container is left on someone else’s property there’s a clear and defined drop off and pickup time. I’ve never heard of this crap happening ever.

Yeah we have had more than a fair share of Amazon drivers take 30min-1hr to back into our dock. One guy said it couldnt be done. Not the best and brightest TBH.

Just to follow up on this situation. Everything has since been resolved to my satisfaction. Hands were shaken, hot dogs eaten.

Just hope this does not happen again.
