Amazon Shipping

Now that there’s a drop-off point, I might try Amazon Shipping.

Yes … but we would try the pickup version. There has been several issues of items not picked up reported on NSFE.

Staples pulled out of Lubbock TX years ago and you can’t drop off at an Amazon warehouse so does nothing to benefit us.

Do they pick up from homes?

I didn’t want to try it because I figured they would not pick up from my house, and if they did, they would skip my house if I didn’t answer the door within half a second.

If I could drop off the package, that would work.

Think the pick ups are from warehouses which have had a spotty record.

Some thought it would be from houses (homes) and it definitely didn’t work out for them as nobody ever showed up for the pick up.

This is why I haven’t done it. If I can use a drop-off location, I can do it.

From the little I have read on the Amazon forum about Amazon as a carrier makes me think that they disavow all knowledge – take zero responsibility. We delivered it. That’s that. And we know that Amazon is okay with lying about such matters.

As long as they cover A-Z and don’t hurt my metrics.

The irony here is that Staples stores have been dropping like flies for years, and store closures are continuing at a rapid pace. The only one left in my medium-sized city just shut down. There was speculation some years ago that Amazon would buy Staples, but that did not happen. If there still was a Staples where I live I might try this service – especially if the company was owned by Amazon. I used to be a frequent Staples shopper, but their prices shot up and any good deals vaporized.

I went in for a ream of colored paper yesterday, what once was a full back wall of paper is now 1/8 of that. Went up to pay, both employees at the front were dealing with a line 10 deep of Amazon returns, no one actually available to check me out for a few minutes, and the returns not actually processing, so it was them explaining again and again to the people they would have to try again in a few minutes as the scanner was saying “Not a valid return.”

Not a great business model.

yes but they are not 100% reliable. I used to have Amazon pick up but then they stopped it.
Their delivery rate was poor. They lost about 20% of packages. The only good think was they covered the A-Z from non delivery (on a $1500 order that was a lifesaver but shouldn’t have been necessary).

The cost was also only beneficial for items over 2 lbs. Otherwise USPS was cheaper.

I live in a pretty dense area, but my closest Staples is about 20 mins away, several highway exits.

Meanwhile I have UPS 1.5 miles from my house, and even a fedex hub just as close. Heck even two Whole Foods closer than Staples! So yeah this is not a viable option for me. At least my USPS person is super nice and reliable so I always know the first leg is good.
