Answer in NSFE is not complete, somebody that participates there wants/can help this poor soul?

I saw this case on the “hot topic” of the “NSFE seller forum tab”
https://sellercentral.amazon.com/seller-forums/discussions/t/9e2ad825-83d0-4720-b240-d902959dfc05?ref=forums_sc_homepage_ml_9e2ad825-83d0-4720-b240-d902959dfc05&communicationDeliveryId=392ac97f-668f-4a9b-84cb-f6c56130d47e

I don’t think that the answers given are correct or complete.
There are some walk-arounds RFS for some items, particularly high value ($2k on Amazon…, wowzer)

A high value item (over $100) can be exempted from an Amazon prepaid return label, therefore it escapes RFS

The steps to apply for the exemption are listed in this link https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/G202072200

Thank you, Oneida
I hate that stupid system, and the way the answers are slanted
Glad somebody had already done it

Here is another one that could be helped

https://sellercentral.amazon.com/seller-forums/discussions/t/e0a9e462-bf66-4fd9-98b2-465d45af9fce

This poor guy is claiming his package is 18x12x10. I am very willing to say that he is talking about uline item, S-19842, which internal dimensions are indeed 18x12x10 (I use it often), external dimensions however are 18 3/8x12 3/8 x 10 5/8, which round up to 19x13x11

Nobody can actually help him in the current predicament, he’s out $200. But I believe he could benefit by knowing that boxes are sold on the internal dimensions, not the external dimensions, and that all carriers round up to the next measurement and weight

If anybody who participates in the NSFE can help this guy, thumbs up!

I mean KJ answered, and is most likely right here esp if the weight was high in addition to the actual dim’s being off:

The FedEx One Rate shipping service has strict maximum package thresholds of 50 pounds and 2200 cubic inches. If a label was purchased with package dimensions equal to or under 50 pounds and/or 2200 cubic inches, but the carrier audit shows the package exceeds those limits, the package no longer qualifies for One Rate and a different service with higher rate may be applied.

Yes the seller follows up that it wasn’t one rate, but KJ replies again with what appears to be well researched facts:

For that shipment, you were originally charged the FedEx One Rate label rate based on the dimensions entered for the shipment, but the carrier-audited dimensions exceeded the 2200 cubic inch limit and a different service with higher rate was applied by FedEx based on the package size and shipping speed.

I’m not saying the seller was right, just suggesting that it is explained that the dimensions he is using are the internal ones. That the box (if he got the one I think he did, which I’m sure he did) is measured differently from what he is saying, and is being rounded up to the next incremental number (same with weight)

Until he learns that, he will get hit with the same problem, and not just by FedEx but by UPS and everybody else

I am puzzled though – the screenshot shows carrier audit agreed with the dimensions entered

Great question, and I don’t know the answer.
The mod said that the FedEx website shows 19x13x11, what Amazon shows… is useless.
Going on a tangent, I sent on early December 3 parcels to FBA, each containing 6 skus (3x6=18).
Amazon decided that I had sent 31 skus. It sent me very unfriendly notifications explaining how I should be careful counting and how when I “miscount” the process of making units available takes longer.
I opened a case trying to get them to count again, got an even more condescending response, I attempted a second time, it got worse. I decided to leave as it was. It would eventually sort itself somehow. Last weekend, they corrected their number to 18, leaving no record of their mistakes except for the open cases.
I did get a nice notification of how I was exceeding a given allocation of space and got told of a nice bill coming my way, I’m curious to see if they have discarded that too. Product is still not available.

Anyway, all that is to say, that whatever Amazon reflects on their website is garbage, what the mod sees on FedEx is likely to be more reliable (even though I’m on the seller’s side and I would want him to get his $200 back)

Amazon and eBay are VERY BAD about this, they never show the actual audit info as KJ indicates the actual info is on the tracking page

I have posted a hint for future.

edited to add: I would be pleased if the interior dimensions on my 6 x 9 folding mailers were 6 x 9 instead of about 1/8 inch shy both ways, Makes a difference :grimacing:

This is an interesting one,
https://sellercentral.amazon.com/seller-forums/discussions/t/8856a1df-817c-4062-811a-66c9c0faaee2

Couple of things.

  1. A flash point of 140 F or above is non-flammable, so def not Class 3
  2. Oil fragrances can be (and usually are) lumped in UN3082 which indeed falls in Transportation Class 9. However, and here is the part that the seller (and def Amazon don’t really know) is how to read the 49CFR and all the beautiful things that it entails.
UN3082 has small quantity exemptions that protect from dangerous good regulations. The magic word that the seller should use is “Small Quantity Exemption (A197/375)” as the packages are well below 5L, should apply.
Now A197 is a shipping provision, but it does have some overlap with storage regulations.
As long as packaging is done correctly, I don’t see any reason why these (supposed) vials of fragrance should be considered DG

That would be my answer to them if anybody wants to give them the suggestion

I posted your information to that thread.

Thank you,
I don’t think they’ll be able to fix it, but is the right information. Under A197 they shouldn’t even have had to report that it was a UN# if the containers are under 5 L
