Anyone ever hear of a Blue Badge Ad?

I keep getting this message from an Amazon rep.

Hello SUNDANCE Beauty,

Your company is not 100% B2B Compliance.

Your products are being suppressed from the search results in Amazon Business because you do not have the Business Price and Quantity Discount set up.

Additionally, I would like to provide to your company a Permanently FREE Ad to each one of your products, this Ad is called Blue Badge, and it has a 25% of conversion rate.

Please, let’s schedule a call for a super brief discussion [here] , it will be worth your time . I look forward to contributing to your business success.

I look forward to our meeting.

Hmmm 25% conversion rate…yeah ok

They’re probably going to try to convince you to give business customers a discount.

So these ads aren’t exactly free, they’re contingent on you offering a discount.

I’ve never heard of a Blue Badge Ad, either, but I find it interesting that the Privacy Policy link embedded on that calendar page is to https: //www.amazon.jobs/en/privacy_page.

Looks like yet another poorly-parameterized program rollout to me…

@Sundance I just went on a Google rabbithole of Amazon badges and have three thoughts:

  1. Evidently in the Amazon employee world, id badges are color coded relative to your status. Badges framed in blue represent that you are a direct permanent employee of Amazon (rather than probationary, seasonal, contract, etc). They come with more perks and reflect Amazon’s quality commitment. So perhaps Amazon has taken the coveted “Blue Badge” and translated the moniker to mean some sort of elite service or program?
  2. As a Seller (or account manager using Amazon Advertising) you can get badges (certifications) in various Amazon Advertising content, reflecting prowess and skills. Do you have any of these certs? Maybe a bonus of going through the training and testing is access to additional opportunities?
  3. The Small Business badge is blue. Do you have this? Perhaps since they mention B2B, small businesses have access to “blue badge” ads to other B2B customers?

Good sleuthing! I had never heard of a “blue badge” before now.

Our nemesis! Lol

Went through a lot a couple years ago when this came out to get it removed from our listings. Mostly because we know that small business can = junk in our category to the consumer but also because my partner owns a business that would never come close to qualifying, and while we aren’t really connected we sort of are and I found that to be a fantastic excuse to get what we wanted.

Well… Last week, it returned and we quickly dispatched it with our SAS manager. It also happened to my other account which I am closing this year so don’t really care.

With that said, anyone that got their SBB removed in the past likely has it again. Just a heads up.

I can confirm this, dammit.
