My name is Kevin, and I am from Temu.com. I want to invite you to sell on Temu.
Temu is one of the fastest-growing online shopping platforms, having launched in the U.S. in September 2022. We currently serve over 150 million buyers in the U.S. and achieved more than $60 billion in sales last year.
Grocery is a huge category for us and we sold tons of them.
To support this initiative, we are proposing a program with zero commission and no membership fees.
I would be happy to provide you with more details. Or you can directly sign up with the exclusive invitation link: Click here
Best Regards,
Seller success at Temu
Looks like they want to expand to more general products - not just cheap China Products.
I’d like to throw up some real US Brands of haircare products to see what happens but I can’t find a place that shows me my shipping distance. I would like to start with 48 States and no over seas. Still looking.
I received the invite a while ago, and started to check it…
They wanted the personal address of all any owners of the company
That was as far as I went, the PRC probably already has my info, but I’m sure as heck not going to give it that easily (I refuse to even see tik-toks, let alone use ot as sales channel)
But Amazon and Walmart fall under US Laws … China doesn’t so we think @Tallytony actions to abort has merit in the protection of information and how it might be used.
I have no idea about this stuff. Does doing business in the US with US based sellers obligate a non-US owned platform to collect the same kind of info to give to the US government on the same level as a US owned platform?
Yes, because the platform is doing business in the US; however, the collection of such information may not receive the same privacy protection even if the US law requires it.
Yes, foreign companies registering or doing business in the U.S. must comply with U.S. laws, including the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) for beneficial ownership reporting (with exemptions for U.S. persons) and potentially other regulations like export controls (EAR) or data privacy laws (CCPA) when interacting with U.S. entities or individuals, as the U.S. regulatory environment extends to foreign actors engaging with the American market
.
Corporate Transparency Act (CTA)
Who’s Affected: Foreign companies that register to do business in the U.S. are considered “reporting companies” and must file beneficial ownership information (BOI) reports with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).
U.S. Person Exemption: These foreign companies do not need to report any beneficial owners who are U.S. citizens or residents, and U.S. persons don’t need to provide their info for these foreign entities.
Deadlines: Foreign companies already registered have deadlines (e.g., April 2025 for older registrations), while new ones have 30 days from registration.
Other Key U.S. Laws
Export Administration Regulations (EAR): Even non-U.S. companies must comply with EAR if they deal with U.S.-origin controlled content or technology, applying to exports, re-exports, and some in-country transfers.
Data Privacy Laws (e.g., CCPA/CPRA): If a foreign company offers goods/services to U.S. residents or collects their data, state laws like California’s (CCPA/CPRA) can apply, covering customers, users, and employees.
False Claims Act (FCA): Foreign companies can face liability under the FCA for submitting false claims to the U.S. government or making false statements related to U.S. transactions, even without realizing it.
In Summary
When soliciting or doing business with U.S. companies, foreign entities are generally subject to relevant U.S. laws, particularly those concerning financial transparency (CTA), data handling, and export controls, requiring careful compliance to avoid penalties.
I completely agree with this.
All I meant is that them asking us for it isn’t necessarily suspicious and may even be legally mandated. Whether or not to participate is obviously a choice we have to make.
I don’t remember exactly the wording of Inform, but I’m almost sure that it’s only the business address, and if you have a residential address, you only need to have the state/zip visible.
In any case, wally and amz have my home address, I’ve seen too many memes to purchase anything from Temu
