I am seeing some tools that use AWS are slow and are still intermittently timing out (9.10pm EST)
Does anyone believe Amazonā statement blaming this on a DNS server issue?
I donāt
Well I was not particularly affected as my outage was minimal, so therefore there was not really a problem. When Amazon was down, our Shopify page was still up and running so itās not like anything has really changed. We will have to wait for the outages to run their course, before we can make a real evaluation as to if the outage really affected anything. I mean after all, how many times have there been major outages before, where the effects get revised down once everything is said and done.
LOL
Stamps worked this morning -no worse than any other day.
Biggest hit for me (since I had zero orders that needed to be shipped out) was that the Roku channel was still down when we wanted to watch TV tonight. Thankfully, PlutoTV appeared unaffected.
Oh, it did take a while for Veeqo to update tracking to eBay, but we were able to buy shipping, and it updated after a few hours. So no real damage.
AWS is normally very straightforward about the issue, as they are legally required to be with their SLAās. They will publish a white paper at some point in the near future with a full detailed outline of exactly what happened.
Their theory at the moment is DNS, and while that may have gone down, there may be a different root cause behind that.
Youāll just have to wait
UPDATE, things outside of Seller Central appear a lot more stable this am!
scan form not generating for ātodaysā shipment that was all purchased yesterday.
And this is why we do personal sized pizzaā¦when everyone canāt agree on toppings.
To reprint a USPS SCAN form from Amazon Buy Shipping, go to Orders > Order Reports > End of day forms. Select the USPS option, choose your warehouse, and click Request to generate the form, which you can then download and print.
I know how to print one, but it did not generate one for todays orders.. etsy one was also incorrect, had duplicates on it! its okay, post office wonāt mind an off day
Everything that affected me personally and the business were all acting normally by midnight.
I knew AWS ran a lot but didnāt realize how much of what I have going on over hereā¦.
Heard somewhere today that they have 1,000,000 customers worldwide that they host in one way or the other.
Thatās nuts.
ā1/3 of the global cloud market.ā
This is why I am vehemently opposed to excessive DRM and absurd subscription based ownership like heated car seats, or printer ink, where you have to have your ink cartridges DRM checked on boot up. Canāt use your printer or change the ink cartridge because AWS or another cloud provider is down or god forbid we have a conflict with someone capable of knocking these things offline.
Or Remote Startā¦. I canāt freaking believe we have to pay monthly for this feature on our new car.
Apparently this has been a thing for a bit. We hadnāt bought a new car in 10 years until this year.
I have to wait 3 more years. āSon, go start the truck, itās cold outsideā.
How much is remote start a month?
Itās $24 a month for the Subaru App that does lots of things but if you pay all at once, they cut it in half. What sportsā¦. So $150 a year for the stupid App. It has cool features that we will never use.
Iām the idiot in the showroom that says we will just press the button on the remote. - There isnāt oneā¦
Ya stuff like this is why I support owner hacking. You own the car, but you donāt own the right to use it. This ā ā ā ā should be illegal.
On the flip side I see people driving like tool bags doing 100 on the freeway or like 10 lane changes a mile, and think⦠I wish this was reported to your insurance company automatically so they can subsidize the costs of the rest of us.
Subscription fees for car features? Thatās the world we live in now? Nuts. Guess a restomod is in the cards.
Yep ⦠one for the map feature and one for the satellite radio. The rest of them we said no to.
