Assuming you reported that. What does MakerPlace have to say about it?

So there is a lot of spam scam messages going around lately, and Spoonflower (Who is owned by Apollo Group the same people who own Michaels) have gone the route of disabling the private message system with hopefully a new private message system coming in 2025. Totally sucks for Spoonflower and I really hope Michaels has some sort of plan to combat the same scam spam messages otherwise I hope they are not going to go Spoonflower’s route of just disabling communication. :grimacing:

I got that one, too. Sometimes I really want to mess with them for sh*ts and giggles!

Nothing yet.

I couldn’t even report it using the 3 dots next to message because it kept giving me an error. Dave English is aware of it as he responded to a post about this scam message yesterday in the FB group.

I got that message from “technical” as well. Definitely SPAM.

Thank you for posting this. I just got this message this morning. I was assuming it was a scam but I gotta hand it to them, this is the only message I’ve ever received on MP that has a detailed icon, not just the shadow head outline. All this online scamming is getting old, it’s one scam after another lately. I turned it in, I also turned in the other 2 I got regarding the scam of wanting to take the sale off MP and sending additional money for the “hassle”. Sigh.

Received the same message right after midnight this morning.

I guess nobody at MakerPlace works on Sunday, otherwise you’d think after the sellers who reported about this message yesterday, MP’d have shut them down, instead of letting the same message sent out to more sellers.

I report it too and asked why MP hasn’t shut it down. Not sure much good that’d do though.

Hi Wade,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention! As E-commerce scammers look for new ways to exploit online marketplaces, we want to thank you for reaching out to notify the MakerPlace team of the suspicious message you received. Proactive communication helps protect you and your customers on MakerPlace. The latest round impacting e-commerce websites are scammers asking sellers to sell items off the platform. Often, these scammers are posing as buyers to make fraudulent purchases with no intention of paying you, or to access your bank account information.

Got the same reply too. The “Latest” scam that was mentioned in the reply was a totally different issue (happened months ago, at least to me) than what is happening right now.

It seems like they were answering our report with an old form letter, or maybe they only concerned about “selling items off the platform”, but not about bad things can happen to unaware seller if they didn’t realize those message were scams.

I just got it too. It’s concerning because I sold something and I haven’t been paid yet from Michaels. Luckily I can easily spot phishing messages but I know not everyone can and some people might fall for it.

Don’t get complacent. People who are good at spotting scams sometimes get overconfident and stop doing due diligence.

When I read this thread last night, I hadn’t yet gotten the latest scam.
When I went online after breakfast today, it was there and I reported it.

The following was in yesterday’s MP Saturday email:

When I read about the part about cilck on 3 dots, I was pretty happy to learn that, which sure make it easier to report spam message, instead of have to sent an email about it.

Well, It was not easy to find those 3 dots. You have to have your cursor hover over the message in order to have the 3 dots showing up.

That is unfortunate design.
