I - and other sellers who I have talked to - have noticed this for the last year or two. Rolls of bubble wrap are consistently shorter than advertised.
Now it is making the news.
It appears that the errors in measurement have been propagating back up the supply chain. Now you don’t have to re-label so that you can cheat your customers. Many suppliers now do it for you.
Somehow, all of the errors in measurement seem to be on the side of being shorter than labeled. Nobody ever gets a roll that is longer. It makes one suspect that these errors might possibly be deliberate.
Even Amazon Basics from Amazon.com came in under in the test, according to the sellers’ measurements.
And they can just blame their supplier
I don’t order bubble wrap rolls, but this would make me measure each one and complain every time. Once retailers get tired of giving enough shorted Buyers extra rolls, then they might start to hold suppliers accountable.
The price was under $13/roll for years. Then it went up to $15.xx. Sorry about that. I think it’s our fault for buying so many with free shipping (fancy-pants business membership). I think the FedEx delivery truck could drive itself here with our orders.
