Buy Shipping Adjustment

I don’t think the upcharge is Amazon’s fault but since it’s their account they should have represented me in a charge back against USPS. In this case they had plenty of historical data from Buy Shipping label purchases for the ASIN ordered, and even their own weight & dim confirmation because it’s also in FBA.

Maybe I’ll sanction the contact, I don’t know if my sales could be throttled or I’ll earn a troublemaker notation on my account that could affect a future outcome.

But if problems aren’t challenged there’s no hope they’ll get fixed.

The money comes out of your pocket not theirs, so they have no interest in helping you. Find a way to make this cost them a dime and you will see an uptick in Amazon’s enthusiasm to resolve this.

Getting a congress person to look at this is good, but it should not be limited to USPS – just judging by forum threads it seems that UPS has a real sweet deal going. Absurd extra charges abound. And forum posts certainly only reflect some of the graft.

They know Amazon cannot be bothered and the sellers are powerless.

Mail fraud is mail fraud no matter who the carrier. Of course a mail fraud charge is not usually levied against the carrier. But is is fraud. And involves mail.

“is is fraud” – oops

I want to point out that I do not believe USPS is deliberately involved in fraud here.

For one thing, no individual would be able to benefit.

I do not believe this of all the UPS corrections – that I believe is fraud.

And of course all the “corrections” occur only after it becomes impossible to disprove them.

And I am allowing a certain discount of instances assuming that some sellers regularly and deliberately misrepresent package size.

Ironically shortly after posting this I see a thread on the Amazon forum about several test buys from a competitor who routinely misrepresents not only size but weight to gain a competitive edge.

The seller, finding Amazon does not care (what a surprise) is working with USPS.

It if it Amazon’s account being used to commit fraud – that makes Amazon guilty.
