Buy Shipping label layout questions (Zebra)

I changed my label layout setting to 4x6 label and packing slip pdf. Now I get nothing, no pdf, no download, changed Buy Printing printer setup to pdf, tried reprint multiple times.
Tried changing the layout back to what I had, 4x6 label only and now that won’t work either.

Any ideas how to get out of this situation? I’ve paid for a UPS label I can’t print.

I tried another computer that gave me a notification with the location of the file, so I got it printed.

Is there a way to set up the label & packing slip layout to open automatically, or open in the browser, to make this option faster?

With the label only layout it is sent directly to the printer without even opening an image on the computer. Much faster than navigating to a file to open and print.

For us it is hit or miss. Case labels go straight to a print screen PDF but pallet labels download.

@primetime I’m so glad you found a workaround!

VTR, this question is for order shipping labels. FBA labels open in the browser or I can use Adobe if I need to download them for some reason.
My browser setting for pdf’s is to always ask: open in Firefox or open with Adobe or Save.

The Buy Shipping labels download direct to a User AppData Temp folder that I cannot even navigate to. They don’t show up in the download folder. I have to use the laptop that gives me notifications and click on the notification to open the label file. Or I found I can search ‘App’ in the User folder to bring them up.
Not user friendly at all.

Some of your files are probably hidden from view …

View hidden files and folders in Windows

  1. Open File Explorer from the taskbar.
  2. Select View > Options > Change folder and search options.
  3. Select the View tab and, in Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives and OK.

I wondered if there were hidden files. Thank you.

I followed your instructions and it got me to the Temp folder ( > AppData > Local >Temp ) but the 2 pdf files from this morning are not shown there. (24 other files were generated in that folder today).
I sorted by file type and did not find any pdf’s, so I got further but still hit a dead end.

It would be nice if Buy Shipping would just handle the label/packing slip combo the same as it does the label alone. Pdf is the only option for the combo.

I also have not found a way to change that setting except on a live order.

We batch print packing slips first (they go to a separate computer) then batch the shipping labels to our Zebra. On our warehouse computer they go to a PDF (easily opened at the top of the screen with a dropdown) on our office computer they pop up directly (Win11 on Firefox).
Are you using Firefox? Another browser?

Firefox, Win 10. They are not in the FF download folder. My eBay labels are there.
They are not opening in FF or anywhere on the computer.

I tried changing my setting back and it’s not fixed. Today I have bought 2 labels that I cannot find anywhere, not even by searching the User folder like I did yesterday.
I’m really lost now. How can they be so obscure?

Firefox - on the far right hand side, top of the screen there’s an arrow.
Downloads can be found there.
Or try Ctrl + J
If the labels don’t appear they can usually be found there.

Another thought - are the labels opening in another “window” that your main screen is hiding? If you minimize your main screen to see if there’s a pop up screen “hidden” behind it.
That has happened lately. Often.

No I checked that first thing yesterday and continue to watch for it. I can find yesterday’s labels in the AppData Temp file but not today’s.
Firefox is set to Always Ask for pdfs but apparently Amazon’s pdfs are special because it doesn’t ask, they are not in the FF download folder or the Windows download folder. They’ve been hidden somewhere. I wish Print Connect was more user friendly.

Uninstall Print Connect.
Bet your labels will show up in one or the other ways I outlined in my previous response.
Beyond frustrating.

Yes I know where the FF download folder is. They are not there. Yesterday’s are not there either. Yesterday’s eBay labels are there, not Amazon’s.

I finally did find the Amazon labels yesterday in the AppData Temp folder so they did download.

Today’s labels are not in that folder.

Also check FF settings for where the downloads will go …
We use FF and our PDFs open directly into Adobe PDF …
In Chrome, we have PDFs set up to open into a browser tab and, if we want, then download the PDF.
Both have downloads going to the windows 11 download folder.
{side note - different users of windows 11 on same machine will have different download folder locations}

We use the 4x6 png option which opens in a new window.

Firefox is set to Always Ask for pdf files and normally it does.

The Downloads save-to setting is the Download folder, which is empty.

This is a nightmare, just because I wanted to try a different label format.
I’ve rebooted machines (have 2 laptops) triple-checked the Print Connect printer settings. New prints disappear.
I’m going to miss my mail pickup at this rate.

Did you possibly activate “Pocket” in your Firefox Browser?
Could they be hiding there?
Is it possible your settings are ‘sync’d’ to send the labels to a file that may not be one you would identify?
Are they in que in your printer?
I know this all sounds silly but thinking of things that have happened here in the past.
If you hover your mouse around the firefox icon at the bottom of the page does it show you any unopened pages (labels?)
if you uninstall Print Connect you should be able to reprint the labels (individually - time consuming but at least you can get them done and packages on the way).

I have Pocket but wasn’t signed in on machine #1, I just did to check anyway, not there.
Not in my printer queue.
I have only 1 FF window open.

I refunded the 3 I tried today and switched to Endicia, to save myself an 8 mile round trip to the PO.

Uninstalling Print Connect is the next thing I will try later, can’t afford anymore time on this problem this morning.
Odd that it is happening on 2 laptops.

Your win 10 download location is under

  • Desktop
  • [Your Win10 login name]
  • Downloads {may have additional folders under this}

Should also be viewable under

  • This PC
  • Downloads

If the download folder isn’t pinned to Quick Access, we suggest pinning it for easy access.

Check this in FF also
