Hello fellow sellers,
Any input about buying shipping labels for FBM orders, using Amazon shipping services? Have been using FedEx, in addition to USPS and UPS. But not happy with FedEx. In shipping FBM orders to customers, Amazon shipping services has better rates and delivery time is also less for some orders.
Are the services, delivery etc good?
What are the Monthly or one time (pick up for all packages in a day), in addition to actual shipping charges? Their website does not mention, at least clearly.
Any in put is appreciated. Regards!!
Buying Amazon shipping labels for FBM is buying a label, period. It has nothing to do with delivery.
When you buy a label for FBM, you choose the carrier. For example, if you choose USPS, then USPS is the delivery service. Amazon doesn’t pick up your packages, nor do they deliver them. You’re buying a shipping label, no different than buying a label from ShipStation, Shippo etc.
If you want Amazon to deliver your package to the customer, you first have to mail your packages to Amazon for FBA, not FBM. Either way, Amazon does not pick up your package(s) from your home or office.
There have been several threads on NSFE about sellers choosing to use Amazon shipping services but then Amazon never picking up the packages.
It may work for those with a warehouse and several orders going out a day but we doubt it works for the smaller sellers sending out fewer packages a day from a shop or home.
And other threads that indicate that Amazon – when used as a carrier – sucks. They do not acknowledge errors and disclaim all responsibility. The buyer will not lose. Seller funds all Amazon errors. (not talking about FBA)
Thanks for you reply@meredithbead, but Amazon does pick up FBM packages to deliver directly to customers from your warehouse. I am no talking about FBA but customer orders that you fulfill directly. Amazon, just like USPS and UPS do pick up and deliver directly. Please check with one of your FBM orders, and find all shipping options to ship.
Thanks for the heads up. Was contemplating using Amazon as a carrier to replace FedEx, which has lost some of our FBM shipments. So will have to stick to rest of two, USPS and UPS, it seems.
Thank you for the insight. We may have 10-15 packages from our home a day and was thinking using Amazon to replace FedEx, which has lost some of the shipments lately. Amazon says they pick up between 2.30 to 5. Can you guide us towards the threads you are mentioning on NSFE? We are not part of it and need to know how we can join NSFE. Thanks a lot again.
My experience with Amazon shipping was not great, but that was when they were first rolling it out years ago. Nothing I have heard gives me any motivation to try it again.
You can join the NSFE simply by trying to view any NSFE thread while logged in to your Amazon account.
Be aware that Amazon will link your forum activity to your Amazon account and that other NSFE members will be able to see your Amazon store information. Sorry, I forgot that “Amazon shipping ground” was an option. My FBM shipping screen doesn’t show it because I didn’t check that box during set up.
IMO any carrier is superior to FEDEX Ground. The only reason to consider it is price.
Packages arrive filthy, and show signs of rough handling. Drivers scan packages as delivered, days before they are delivered. Drivers don’t bother to leave bring the packages to the recipient’s door some of the time, they just leave a notice. Ringing a doorbell is not in their job description.
When I get a shipment via FEDEX Ground, I stop buying from the shipping vendor. The only exception is Ebay shipping where my quarterly shipping supplies that are paid for with an Ebay coupon arrive from a nearby fulfillment point. The boxes are still filthy, since no one seems to clean the interior of FEDEX Ground trucks.
FEDEX Ground and Amazon shipping share the independent contractor strategy for providing the labor associated with last mile delivery.
The local Amazon Contractor has hired many highly reliable immigrants to this country who do a fabulous job with pride in their work, and courtesy to the recipients.
