IMO any carrier is superior to FEDEX Ground. The only reason to consider it is price.
Packages arrive filthy, and show signs of rough handling. Drivers scan packages as delivered, days before they are delivered. Drivers don’t bother to leave bring the packages to the recipient’s door some of the time, they just leave a notice. Ringing a doorbell is not in their job description.
When I get a shipment via FEDEX Ground, I stop buying from the shipping vendor. The only exception is Ebay shipping where my quarterly shipping supplies that are paid for with an Ebay coupon arrive from a nearby fulfillment point. The boxes are still filthy, since no one seems to clean the interior of FEDEX Ground trucks.
FEDEX Ground and Amazon shipping share the independent contractor strategy for providing the labor associated with last mile delivery.
The local Amazon Contractor has hired many highly reliable immigrants to this country who do a fabulous job with pride in their work, and courtesy to the recipients.
