Oh no; I don’t even want to imagine.
Hopefully, it is just maintenance, or maybe they will actually do something beneficial and upgrade the review/removal options and software;
but knowing Amazon, they’ll get rid of the option for sellers to respond, add some type of unintuitive rubbish or just create more boxes.
Not a lot of support for the new homepage, although, IMO, it’s a small improvement.
I think the masses are more annoyed by time wasted on something so trivial (and rightly so) when there are so many more pressing site issues that need to be addressed and fixed.
The above referenced NSFE post has numerous comments about Amazon making poor choices of where to make improvements. “Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic” was independently mentioned several times.
The mods, of course, did not deign to address these concerns.
BTW, someone should tell Tiff that if a Seller expresses an opinion or concern, and her response is “well most people like it” or “nobody else complained,” then that is DISMISSING and INVALIDATING that Seller. It is not being respectful and definitely not respecting the all-in or whatever.
Well, he (?) did say that “I can assure you that this will grow into something that will be extremely impactful to your business” but didn’t say the impact would be positive.
Amazon is constantly evaluating ways to make things more streamlined and user friendly
Come on, someone who’s joined the NSFE, please quote that line and post the response -
You mean like the new FORUMS are?
I also have a sarcastic remark I’d like to direct at Sandy_A’s earlier comment -
Community Managers are here on Seller Forums to listen, advocate, educate but also learn from our sellers on how we can make the selling experience better
Clearly, they are not, one only needs to look at the NSFE as an example.
I’m always surprised to hear how many people still use the ‘home’ page. I haven’t looked at it (other than to check on what someone was talking about in a post like this one) in years.
When Amazon first gave us the widget bonanza, I tried a few different, unsuccessful, ways to get rid of them and eventually figured out that the only path to success was to bypass the ‘home’ page entirely. Since then, Manage Orders has been my new home page.
I’m small potatoes, so it’s not inconvenient to check the various things I need to each day by navigating to those pages. Payments, messages, business reports, and Account Health. I keep 2 orders tabs open - one for pending, and one for unshipped, and check the other pages as needed.
Haven’t been faced with a promotional widget in years.
Now if we could delete a widget from the rotation and have it go to a trash can that we could empty out … well maybe we would get excited about the change.
Simply hiding the unwanted widgets in a folder for us to look at if we wanted to … and then to repopulate them back into the originating folder for us to re-hide again and again and again and again and again and again … ( damm … we being programed ) … not much feedback needed on that as ( from our experience with NSFE suggestions and improvements ) we know suggestions and improvements mainly go unanswered.
We have a list of items that were suggestions and/or improvements that never gained traction. And after NSFE went “live”, we saw other sellers submit the same suggestions and/or improvements only to get a mod replying … “oh that is interesting and we will forward your input to the teams”. We did a test on a backdoor glitch and Amazon fixed (closed) it within a week. So they listen when it is inline with their thinking.
What is really going on is … Amazon is telling us that this is going to be the new home page. You have some time to adjust to it but, in the end, this is what you will have for a home page.
We are not going to give feedback on it … just learn how to live with it and move on …
Let’s just hope it doesn’t end up as bad as the NSFE transition / update …
What I fail to understand is why Amazon doesn’t include some actual important info on the home page under the 'Action Box’or some other box/header instead of constantly trying to push advertising and their agenda.
For instance, informing sellers they have a new unread Performance Notification or how about Re-verification; surely that would constitute an important Action Item? But instead, Amazon has hidden it away under Account Info (not Account Health) and could easily be missed if the seller doesn’t see the one-time email that was sent.
Interesting, mine are still hidden and I still have the hidden box. Of course it took me a few days to figure out hot to move the cards to the hidden box so maybe my time of a nice clean screen isn’t up yet.
The cards use to be dismiss for 7 days and then rotated back up in 7 days but were no where on the home page during that 7 day period.
The only thing different now is the cards don’t completely go away for 7 days but are stored in the hidden storage folder/widget during their 7 days of out of sight. If you wanted to open the hidden storage folder/widget, you could view any of the cards you have “hidden”.
We can confirm that, after being hidden for 7 days in the hidden storage folder/widget, the cards will reappear and you have to re-hide them. So in reality, nothing has changed except your ability to see something if you had decided to hide it.
We might like the idea of being able to hide one to revisit if we had the ability to delete the ones that we know we will never do (ie: the FBA card, the Loan card …) …
NEW FEATURE: Permanently hide cards into the Hidden section of the homepage by clicking “Hide Card” on the back of your Recommendation and Communication cards.
