Sadly, theft isn’t affected by tariffs so that supply chain will continue and perhaps increase.

I agree. The $800 loophole has been abused for too long and put way to many honest American distributors/retailers out of business. These business’ carried domestic insurance policies, were sueable if you got electrocuted or your house burnt down, paid sales taxes, property taxes, income taxes, import tariffs, etc.
F- Temu/Shien and the others who abused the loophole.

Like much in life this tariff based trade war has its good points as well as its bad points.
Often, the current situation hastens the inevitable results of serious flawed business models.
Keeping score isn’t easy unless it is your business which is being affected.

Ya, one way of looking at things is that I am sure the Japanese were glad we tempered the remaining windows in Hiroshima for them in 1945.

Their opinion was not considered before we dropped the bomb. Their behavior in previous battles was considered in making the decision. Truman wanted the war to be over sooner rather than much later.

Remember that a vast amount of items already came in duty free, so the de minus was a non issue for a very long time, hence the increase from $300 to $800.
It was the cheap delivery that was the KEY to sales, and the fact that coupled with the de minimus, a whole variety of products could come in tariff free in the same shipment.

You can’t keep score when there are no rules or points and the game is simply an ever shifting sludge of baseball, soccer and hockey played on the same field. You can’t know if your business is, was, will be affected because there is no goal in the game being played because it has shifted several times in the last few weeks.
