I mean we all know these scams are scams, but death threats are a new level
This shows how completely Amazon is avoiding taking resposibility for what happens on their website.
Many of the scamers are incredibly obvious. But Amazon lets them continue. Even when we publicly name them, Amazon does nothing.
A few eventually do get banned, but they open a new account within hours.
They keep popping up like noxious weeds.
I 10000% agree that Amazon should be taking action. The “scam” part of this situation is happening outside of Amazon, so all they can easily do* is close the victims seller account.
- Could they do more, yeah, but that would take years in court to go after people who hide behind foreign locations and at the end of the day Amazon isn’t the one losing $, the victim seller is.
Since mid-2023, the agency has sued at least four automation companies, alleging deceptive marketing practices and falsely telling customers that they could generate passive income.
Four, well that really shows how serious they are.
I am going to take the position that this case is one of the most positive actions taken by the FTC in a long time.
It gives me hope.
